Susan, I'd love to know what you think of An American Spy when you finish it.
Richard, are you enjoying The Tourist?

Just finished Olen Steinhauer's Milo Weaver trilogy. Thought all three were fabulous. The complicated plots are not for the faint of heart.

I LOVED Once A Spy -- it was one of my favorite reads of last year. I look forward to hearing what you think of it.

Helen MacInnes'
The Salzburg Connection was my very first espionage novel read -- many, many years ago. I've been hooked on the genre ever since. I'd love to pick that book up again if I could ever find it in print.
As for contemporary vs classic, I lean toward classic, especially LeCarre, though I did enjoy Olen Steinhauer's newest offering,
The Tourist.

I recently finished
The Company, Robert Littell's epic novel of the CIA. One of its greatest strengths is the deft interweaving of historical events with an imaginative and compelling storyline. It's a long one, but well worth the read.
