Okay I haven’t really been updating this group and that’s probably because I can’t easily update from my phone so I am making a Twitter account for this group where we can do most of the polls. For now it is @dateswithdana but give me a different name if you think of one🙏

I just think that it might be helpful for us to introduce ourselves a little.

Hi I'm Dana, I'm 15 (turning 16 this year). My pronouns are she/her. I read, obviously. I'm the oldest of four kids. I'm Syrian and yeah I think that's adequate.

Okay I more people are joining now because I just posted about this, but if we were to do a zoom meeting on the last Saturday of every month, what time would you guys want us to do it at? Please reply with your time zone and time. I was thinking that I could host it at like 12:00 EST because most time zones are ahead of mine, so more people might be able to join.

I don't think that we'll do one this month, so I'll send out a poll today. So please also reply with ideas for what books we can vote on.

What did everyone think of the book for this month? Did you guys like it or hate it? Also what are some books that you want to read next month, so I can add them to the poll?

Dana Theory One:

I think that Tyler could possibly be the antagonist in the story. He doesn’t believe that Juliette is qualified enough to lead the Scarlet Gang, however he also knows that Lord Cai isn’t going to choose Tyler over his own daughter. I think he intends to make a virus and control the population by the use of fear. The White Flower Gang and the Scarlet Gang are the two main powers that everyone in the city fears. By targeting them, and showing that no one in the city is safe, he could control the entire city. I also think that he could develop a drug to the virus that he himself created and try to distribute it to whoever he chooses is valuable enough to him. If anyone crosses him then he withholds the cure. Him having the only cure for a disease killing hundreds/ thousands could also be how he blackmails Lord Cai into making him the heir of the Scarlet gang (because he’s misogynistic and doesn’t believe that a woman could lead the gang as well as a man could).

As you probably already know, the book of the month is These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong. For this month I am hoping that everyone can try to read 13 chapters a week. If you read more than that just participate on the discussions dedicated to the chapter that you are reading. The book has 39 chapters (38 and an epilogue) so if this means that we will finish the book in three weeks. I am going to start the discussions today so if you have already begun reading then feel free to add your thoughts about the book so far.

For the week of 12/07 we are going to be reading chapters 1-13 as a group. Next week, the week of 12/14, we will be reading chapters 14-26, and during the week of 12/21 we will be reading chapters 27-39 (the epilogue).
