1137312 How is everyone doing??

I am reading the last book of this big fantasy trilogy, which I’m loving but I have been intentionally pacing myself because it’s great and I don’t want it to end! I realized that I’m also slowing down my reading challenge progress, so I am gonna suck it up and finish the book!

Anybody find any tricks for getting more reading in? I started reading first thing in the morning when I have my coffee. Before I check the news or anything else on my phone. It helps me focus and also even 15-20 mins a day makes a huge difference in progress! Afterwards I open Goodreads to update my progress and that’s when I catch up.

It does seem like many of you are in your early 20s and in school, which really is a tough time to fit your personal reading in to your schedule. I’m in my 30s now and I am in school again, but my sleep schedule and everything else are different now and it’s been easier to work reading into my daily schedule!

Everyone can do that, I just wanted to point out that some of you are going through a really busy time in life so just because you are struggling to fit it in now, doesn’t mean you are no longer a lover of books and reading!

1137312 I decided to set mine for 27 books. I am not sure why, other than that I have been overthinking it and I just want to settle on a number! It's super easy to adjust the goal so I made myself stop worrying about choosing a good number the first time, haha.

I finished about the last 25% of a big novel the first week of the year, so that one is on my 2021 list already!

That means as of now, I'm looking at:

1. An Echo of Things to Come (finished!)
2. A Short History of Nearly Everything (reading now)
3. The Light of All That Falls (last of the big fantasy trilogy I've been reading)
4. TBD...

I have to go trade out book 2 of this trilogy with my friend and borrow his copy of book 3 (The Light of All That Falls), and then I'm going to start that one.

omg I love your list so far!! Homesteading and racial justice are two of my primary interests too. I saw in your intro post about the chickens as well. Super cool!!

I totally think rereading books counts towards your goal!! I mean I think technically you get to decide what counts or not, but I fully support counting rereads!

I have never heard of that series (I'm old lol) but I just looked it up and I'm super intrigued! I love scifi but I also looooooove fairly tale retellings. Ooh!

1137312 Hi everyone!

I'm Alyson (she/her/they), I'm in my 30s but still love YA fantasy/scifi. I also like to read other scifi/fantasy, historical nonfiction, current events, social justice related nonfiction, and more! I just really love to read.

Like everyone else though, I definitely don't read enough and I also just started taking college classes again, so I have less time to read now too. I am however starting out this year with the 3rd book in a fantasy trilogy called The Licanius Trilogy. I was honestly hoping to finish these books before for the New Year JUST so that I could try to boost my 2021 numbers by getting the last 800-page novel out of the way in 2020, hahah. No such luck though! It has been a really good series so far though and I cannot wait to finish it.

I think it's pretty cool that the group seems to have quite a few younger/teen members! I'm a bit older but I read soooo much as a teenager which is part of why I still love YA fiction. Can't wait to see what everyone is reading!

Lastly, I started watching Stargate SG-1 recently thanks to the power of suggestion of Ash's username. I loved the movie when I was younger but for some reason never watched the show. I'm midway through season two right now!
