114212 Tanya - Thanks for posting the shout-out. So nice to have someone offer to help without wanting anything in return. Hope you enjoy the book! Have a great week.

114212 It does not matter how many copies of an individual book you buy, each BUYER counts as 1 purchase. This keeps authors from buying their own books to hit the best seller list.

114212 I am considering joining KDP (kindle direct publishing) Select and Kindle Owners' Lending Library. The thought here would be to get the book into as many reader's hands as possible to spark word-of-mouth.
Has anyone had any luck with KDP Select?

Thanks for the note. I will adjust the rules to make it clear, if it's a blog, then you will have to decide if you want to follow or not.

Hi Debra - I am also a TweetAdder users and wondering how to get past 5K followers - seem to be stuck there - twitter blocks me following anyone new. I'd love to know
Thanks,

Welcome Tanya - Thanks for the author help. Feel free to re-post your message in the new folder I created called "Bloggers Helping Authors".

I took and look at your site and submitted my $5 - My only suggestion would be is to specify what type of reads you are looking for. Your site looks like YA Lit, but your profile shows that you might have a very wide interest in all topics.

Thanks for the help - I couldn't have done it without help from other bloggers.

114212 Attention Wonderful Bloggers: use this folder to reach out to author members with your free or paid services. We all deserve to make $ for our work, so if you offer paid reviews - let us know about it!

I have utilized blogger help for the past 3 years and would not have ever made the Amazon Best Seller List without the help of bloggers.

Happy posting!

114212 Bethany wrote: "Thanks for the info. I was wondering about FB because they are always trying to promote their boost post option. Have you tried other paid promotions like Kboards or goodkindles? I've been looking ..."

I found that people in FB like to stay in FB, so if I buy FB adds, it is with the goal of increasing likes on my page and nothing more. Likes just gives me overall credibility when a reader happens to my page.

Thanks for the tip on KBoards and GoodKindles - I am headed over there now to check them out. Let us know if you had any luck with them.

Everett - I used TweetAdder to target readers in my demographic on twitter instead of writers. I did conclude no sales resulted. But, increased comments on my blog - so that was good enough for the little time I put in on twitter. Although sometimes I lose hours to the little blue bird.

I agree 100% about free books - I'm going to open a new discussion chain on that subject.
Thanks for your input.

114212 I have used Goodreads paid ads (campaigns) to advertise my book without real success. Unlike FB, they are pay-per-click, so there is a TON of exposure without burning through your money. But, I have not seen an increase in sales due to goodread ads.

Has anyone had a good or bad experience with goodreads adds
Sep 16, 2013 02:45PM

114212 Debra & Steven - thanks for getting the list started! We only need 47 more links to close the list :-)
Sep 16, 2013 02:43PM

114212 Hootsuite - I have to try that one - you are the second post I read today suggesting it. Thanks.

114212 I vote NOT WORTH THE $$
I have experimented with boosting posts of all sorts and targeted posts.

Unlike the success I had with FB Adds (on the side bar), the Post boosts runs through my funds and shows the thousands of people that saw the post, but never has any real power IMHO.

Unlike GoodReads, FB boosts are NOT pay-per-click, so you burn through your $ with no real guarantee that anyone saw anything.

Now, we have to consider that maybe my post just sucked, but I will tell you I tried it out on many different types with the same lack-luster results.

114212 I find twitter to be one of the best marketing tools around. I don't always use it - I get bored and move my focus around. BUT... where else can you reach 5 million people for free with the understanding "I follow you, you follow me?"

Unlike FB, I found a majority of tweeps (people on twitter) expect to and even enjoy following links that take them OUT of Twitter. You just have to give them 40 characters that makes them want to click.

I don't know that it helped me sell books, but it did increase my blog traffic.

How do you use twitter to move books?
