I have Black Jacobins on my shelf just waiting for a quiet moment ;)

I’ll nominate the topic “The Non-White Left”

Ok thanks - I’ll leave them then; I didn’t have any favorite fiction this year…

Oh whoops, I withdraw mine; both are non-fiction. Sorry I didn’t read closely enough.

My two favorites of the year, apart from what we read together, were Heavy by Kiese Laymon (he comes prepared to tell a lot of truths and it was the best memoir I’ve ever read) and Killers of the Flower Moon because it tells an incredible truth about the history of white America in the recent past against our native people.

I’ll nominate the book I’m reading right now because I’m finding it really interesting: White Trash: The 400-Year Untold History of Class in America.

Just finished Revolting Prostitutes and am truly grateful to this group for inspiring me to read this book. What an education! These authors blew me away with their ability to write an accessible text that ties in all the injustices so well. Bravo to the authors and thank you again for the recommendation.

I’m Alison, she/her. I agree that the book recommendations that come out of this group are very valuable to me, even if I don’t get them read when the group is reading them. I’m taking four classes this summer, so I don’t get to read for pleasure as much as I’d like to, and I’m a mom, so there’s that ;) . Also, it’s great to get to know some of you. Sofi, I am trying so hard to read in Spanish (trying La Casa en Mango Street) so I have great appreciation for you and your efforts! And Logan, I spent a summer working in Denali and envy your current location! Thank you to everyone taking the time to tell a bit about yourself. It’s really nice to be in this group.

I’m way behind and am only halfway through this book but I am loving it. It makes me consider new and fascinating ideas, so thank you to this group for recommending it!

I’m number 156 to receive it from my local library! So I won’t be reading it this month with all of you but I will in the future!

Wow, it must be special. 150+ people have it on hold at my library and 72 for the eaudiobook!

Great post, thanks! I feel the same about the Autobiography of Malcolm X!

Thanks for asking! I think I’m not as into Sci Fi so I wouldn’t opt in, but I hope you find a group! :)

Thanks, John. Added them :)
