I agree with Emily that the ending is creepy. I couldn't believe that after everything these 2 people did to each other that they were going to stay together. And I couldn't imagine them raising a healthy child together. Poor child!

I have mixed feelings about this book. I didn't like either of the main characters, but I thought the book was so cleverly written and a real page turner.

I thought it was a good twist that John had committed the murders of both his brother and sister. I didn't see it coming - especially about his brother.
I agree that John was narcissistic and a psychopath. He might have thought that he had planned such a perfect murder that no none would be able to figure it out, and he might have been trying to divert any suspicion away from himself.
I thought it was a little surprising, though, that his mother and uncle knew about the murder of his brother and never did anything about it.I would have thought that they might have been concerned about Lula's safety.

For me, two things keep this pairing interesting. One is that they don't know each other very well, so they don't know what to expect from each other. The other is the suspense about whether or not they will continue working together. I hope they do. I really like them both as characters.
