That is one of my favourite things - I just want to sit down and enjoy a favourite like re-watching a favourite film - enjoy something i love before moving on to see if I love another.

There are soo many books out there that I want to read but I can't not re-read some - there are just certain books I have to make time for every year.
When I get distracted by other books I just go to them and return back to those old characters and storylines I love when that new book is finished :)

I agree about do many other books to read - I start to get nervous when I don't have a stack of books in my to read pile but there are certain books I just have to re-read every year. I just finished re-reading Outlander two minutes ago and only having been introduced to Diana Gabaldon three years ago, I can't believe how good the book is and how much I love the characters. And i know I will read a new book in between but I also know that by the end of next week I will have started to re-read Dragonfly in Amber because I cannot get away from those old friends that the characters have become.
A good story is only a great story when one simply cannot help starting it back from the beginning. At least that's my belief.

Interesting. And see I find re-reading like re-watching a favourite movie or television show. I love meeting those characters all over again.

Hi everyone! My name is Brie. I was just wondering how people felt about re-reading novels?
I love to re-read some of my favourite books. There are books I have read so many times if you give me the name of the chapter I can tell you exactly what is happening. Harry Potter for example, started reading those before the fourth book came out - love them. Big Nora Roberts fan, her series like the MacGregors and the MacKades, love them.
At the moment, I am re-reading one of my favourite series of all time before the new book comes out in June. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. Re-reading it for the fifth time is reminding me why I love it so much and seeing how much the characters have grown. It's like returning to see old friends.
Does anyone else experience this? Does anyone else love re-reading books or are you like my mother who reads it once and is done forever? Just curious.

So I posted a bit above but I didn't really say much about myself. My name is Brie and I'm from LaSalle, Ontario, Canada. This group caught my eye because I wanted to challenge myself to read a certain amount of books by the end of 2014 as I do love to read. Two years ago I managed to read 100 books and was really proud of myself so this year I'm aiming for 115. I love to read. I tend to read quickly when I find the time and if the book is good I will choose reading over mundane things like food and sleep lol. I primarily read fiction or recommendations from people but I will read almost anything except horror or anything too science fiction. I do love romance, fantasy, paranormal, mystery and pretty much anything history related.
It's nice to meet everyone!!
