1189445 I really don't have any analytical questions for this book discussion. What I do have is questions about your favorite parts of the book. Mine would have to be each time the cahacters were described. They all sounded so beautiful. Did you have fan cast for the people in the book? I thought Alim would look like Idris Elba, Feyi as Erika Juanuza!

1189445 What is your favorite books for tunning out the world? For me it's either an angsty romance book or urban fiction. Nothing makes me feel less present like magic and book boyfriends.

Wow, I have the opposite feelings. Twitter gave me a lot of anxiety because I could not control what I saw. I would see news reposted that I didn't want to see. I feel as though if I stay in my following feed on Book Tok I can only see books! Maybe I will try twitter book tok again though especially since It seems to be like I keep getting the same book recs/.

1189445 First off, Happy Juneteenth for those celebrating! Second, this book is not what I expected omg. It is more messy than romance which is okay, but this is a different kind of romance for me because there is no real romancing. Is this the kind of romance book you would read on a regular basis? And how do we feel about Miss Feyi?

Hey! It is totally okay if you can't make them all. And don't worry about your English my family doesn't speak English so you're fine. What is your first language if you don't mind sharing? I can't wait for your thoughts on the book.

1189445 Hey everyone! ARE YOU READYYYY FORRRR JUNEEEE BOTM ?
Side Note: I tried all fucking morning to learn how to put gifs in Goodreads, then it wouldn’t let me post a new topic, so I had to send out this message. Clearly my morning is not working out , but it’s okay because I chose our book.

I picked something a little crazy…Or at least I heard it was a little wild and messy. But who doesn’t like a little drama in books though? 22 of you voted for June’s genre and 8/22 picked romance. Sooooooo, I have selected “You made a fool of death with your beauty by the non-binary, transgender, Nigerian writer Akwaeke Emezi. Description of book:

“Feyi Adekola wants to learn how to be alive again.

It’s been five years since the accident that killed the love of her life and she’s almost a new person now—an artist with her own studio and sharing a brownstone apartment with her ride-or-die best friend, Joy, who insists it’s time for Feyi to ease back into the dating scene. Feyi isn’t ready for anything serious, but a steamy encounter at a rooftop party cascades into a whirlwind summer she could have never imagined: a luxury trip to a tropical island, decadent meals in the glamorous home of a celebrity chef, and a major curator who wants to launch her art career.

She’s even started dating the perfect guy, but their new relationship might be sabotaged before it has a chance by the overwhelming desire Feyi feels every time she locks eyes with the one person in the house who is most definitely off-limits—his father.

This new life she asked for just got a lot more complicated, and Feyi must begin her search for real answers. Who is she ready to become? Can she release her past and honor her grief while still embracing her future? And, of course, there’s the biggest question of all—how far is she willing to go for a second chance at love? Akwaeke Emezi’s vivid and passionate writing takes us deep into a world of possibility and healing, and the constant bravery of choosing love against all odds.” I mean just look at the cover, it’s so pretty omg.

We will read chapters 1-8 for the first week (06/12- 06/18) and discuss, chapters 9-16 (06/19-06/25)the second week, and finally 17-14(06/26- 07/2) Our discussions will be under the June BOTM tab and will be on every Sunday. You can only show up to the last week discussion instead of each one if you want, but I would like it, if you are a part of “We Read Everything” to interact each week :). As always if you need a buddy reader feel free to find one in the group or message me! I can not wait to read and talk about this one with yall. Alsoooo If I made a playlist for the book would yall listen to it?

1189445 Hi Monica, It's okay if you can't be as present as you would like in the group. All I ask is you try to read the book of the month and show up to at least one discussion which will be on Sundays online! And thank you for a new book interest that we can read, Spanish Philology sounds great ;).

1189445 If you have any recommendations for pride month please share them with group members, this is for everyone and is separate from the book we will be reading this month. Here are some that I found:

I challenge you to not look up the genres of these books and be spontaneous!!!
Redefining Realness by Janet Mock, Bad girls by Camila Sosa Villada, I wanna give you your followers by M.L. Sexton, Pet by Akwaeke Emezo, Nothing burns as bright as you by Ashely Woodfolk, and The memory of the librarian by Janelle Monae.

1189445 I told everyone to introduce themselves and I didn't introduce myself to me own group hahaha sorry. My name is Rose and I am the creator of We Read Everything. I started this group to 1. Help people try new types of books from genre to representation 2. Create a diverse and safe reading space where people can laugh, think, and read without judgment. 3. I love books, all books (Except "How to be an alpha male" and Finance bros) and I love talking to other people about books. My favorite genres are Romantic suspense, Magical realism, and memoirs/essays. I am currently reading too many books actually lol. Pet, Thirty, Six of crows, A Certain Hunger, and The Swede. Thank you for joining, and I am so excited for our journey to read more diversely ;)

Hi Levie, I also enjoy romance and thrillers, are you a romantic suspense junkie like me :) June's book choice is actually likely going to be romance since it is in the lead, but hopefully it is a book that broadens your palate!

What's up B! I am excited to start reading with you and hopefully you will be ready to explore other types of books. I have posted a poll for June's book selection, so if you would like to vote it is on the group home page. Buddy Reads! (2 new)
Jun 06, 2022 06:12PM

1189445 So because we will be reading some books in a genre that some people may have not read before this is where we can do buddy reads. That way it will be a little easier to get through new topics and genres. If you want I can match yall up or I'll leave it up to you readers. Whatever you want :)

Hi Candy Hall! I am so excited, thank you for joining! We will be reading lots of your favorite genres as well as other's you may not have tried out yet. For June's book selection there is a poll that you can vote on to have a choice in the first genre we read. If you do not know how to access the polls look under the group discussion information "How to access poll question" .

Hi Zechariah! Yes, because we will be reading some books in a genre that some people may have not read before there will be a buddy reads option so that it will be easier to get through new topics and genres.
