1. at her book tour, v. e. schwab stated that maría, charlotte, and alice each represent a stage in her coming our journey. how do you think this translated into the published novel?
2. v. e. schwab noted that “the greatest form of freedom for [maría, charlotte, and alice] would be to no longer be afraid of the world in which they inhabit.” how do you think this sense of freedom has impacted their morality— or lack of morality— as the story progresses?
3. v. e. schwab talked a lot about how we as readers tend to judge characters not by their actions, but for the intent behind their actions. how do you think this impacted the way you view the three protagonists in this story?
i can't wait to hear everyone's thoughts on this one!

i've seen a lot of user-created discussion threads from people looking to make more bookish friends! i wanted to create this discussion thread as a place for anyone that is a part of bookstagram or booktok and wants to connect with other members there as well!
drop your username(s) below! can't wait to connect even deeper with everyone! <3

hi, thank you so much for joining our group! we're so happy you're here! :)
i personally think crescent city is worth the read, but i will say that it's definitely very different from sjm's other series'. it waited until the second book in the series came out to pick it up because i wasn't sure how i felt about high fantasy mixed with modern technology, but i ended up loving it!! it does throw a lot more information at you at the start of the story, which can be overwhelming, but it's worth sticking it out. once you get past the 150ish page mark, the plot really starts to pick up!

i know this page is dedicated to fantasy books, but i wanted to share my self-published romance novel here anyways! i am an english teacher, so i published under a pseudonym just to keep my indie author career separate from my professional career.
if you like romance, spice, and queer representation i think you will enjoy words i should have said! i greatly appreciate anyone that is interested in checking out my novel!

Synopsis:
After an unexpected breakup, Rosie Dawson jumps into bed with her favorite friend-with-benefits: her best friend’s younger brother, Callum. Rosie isn’t looking for anything more than a distraction, so why does she keep finding her thoughts drifting back to him weeks later?
Callum Costello has never had any interest in a serious relationship, that is until Rosie shows up at his doorstep. As his sister’s best friend, anything more than a hookup with Rosie is off limits. Given his history as the playboy, that should be fine. The only problem? For the first time in his life, Callum finds himself wanting more.
With Elena’s, Rosie’s best friend and Callum’s sister’s wedding quickly approaching, Callum and Rosie suddenly find themselves forced together more often than they have been in the last decade. She’s the Maid of Honor, he’s the Best Man, love is in the air, but absolutely no one has feelings for each other... What could possibly go wrong?

we have read divine rivals, but i'll make a note of the other two to add to the next poll! :)

we did house of flame & shadow in february, but we will definitely be adding any sjm books to polls as they release! i think acotar 6 is slated to be her next release, but sadly no date yet! :(

we haven't! we've only done the blood & ash series books and then the visions of flesh & blood standalone that's set in the same universe! we can definitely add the prequel series to next month's poll! :)

joely, adélie, and i would love your suggestions for future book club books! we try to keep up with new/popular/diverse releases to add to our monthly polls, but we know there are things we've missed; that's where you come in! please leave your suggestions in the thread below so that we can add them to future polls!
books that are mentioned repeatedly will be most likely to make it onto next month's poll as that will indicate to us that the title is high interest for our group! also, please do take a minute to scroll through our group's bookshelf to see the titles we have already read as we don't plan to do any rereads: https://www.goodreads.com/group/books...
we look forward to hearing from you! :)

i haven't either, but i'm thinking i need to go back to those and read them before reading the next standalone the author is doing in this universe!

oh this is interesting! i haven't heard anyone make this comparison yet! did you read the kingdom of the wicked trilogy?

i'm with you on this! i don't plan to read this one either, but it won the poll so, alas, here we are! i do hope everyone else enjoys!
