120969 So, I've been pretty absent from goodreads lately but...it looks like this group has too! What happened? Slash any chance of it coming back to life again??

120969 Here's my (long overdue, oops) review from the January book - I still haven't gotten to So B. It yet so if we're doing a March blind date I'm definitely going to have to sit that one out!

120969 Oops, somehow I missed my book assignment when I read that post before, but I'll get on it - sounds good! Ashley, your book is Sorcery and Cecelia: or The Enchanted Chocolate Pot by Patricia C. Wrede and Caroline Stevermer.

Also I finally finished my book for last month - I'll post a review soon!

120969 So I still haven't finished my book yet (as predicted, school has slowed my reading down quite a bit), but I'm getting close and will post a review as soon as I'm done. And I'd like to try to keep doing blind dates next month too!

120969 Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo!
Jan 13, 2014 11:45PM

120969 I finished the book a few days ago. I feel like people are always talking in reviews about finishing a book and then going back immediately to read it again, and I never understood that...until now, that is, because that is exactly what I did! Not cover to cover, but I definitely skimmed the heck out of it and only stopped because I had to leave the book at home when I went back to school. But OMG, it was SO GOOD. It made me realize that I hadn't read an amazing book in wayyy too long!

120969 Yeah that's true, I definitely couldn't handle that much in a month. The smaller challenges sound good!

120969 I remember reading some of the challenges Ashley had posted (like the one that changed monthly, where we were supposed to create a locker to keep track?) and they sounded a little confusing, but intriguing! They seem to have disappeared though...is that no longer happening?

120969 By near-coincidence (it was on my goodreads wishlist), I just got Code Name Verity for my birthday - how convenient!! :)

120969 I agree! And you appear to like cats, which are also very high on my list - I approve :)

120969 Ha yeah, avoiding my usual habit of lugging around a giant bag of books on vacation will be nice. My issue so far is that if I really really want a book, then I want the physical copy. But if I don't want to read it as badly then I don't want to spend money on it! As a result, so far I've just downloaded a bunch of classics for free, and I've only actually spent 99 cents! :)

120969 Sounds fun! I'm still scared I'll get too busy once school starts, but I'll try my best and see how it goes!

120969 My parents gave me a kindle for Christmas, which is great... except for the fact that I'm kind of strongly opposed to kindles. I totally see why an electronic reader is a logical and convenient thing to use, but I just really prefer real books! Soo I'm still not sure how I feel about it. They gave me an amazon gift card to go with it and I'm really tempted to use part of it to buy actual books...is that terrible?

120969 Ooh I'm excited by this b/c I don't read short stories nearly often enough. That and the time constraint thing!

The Small Assassin by Ray Bradbury (literally the creepiest thing I've ever read)
Also, Mark Twain, Flannery O'Connor, Ernest Hemingway, Roald Dahl, or James Thurber?

120969 I agree, it looks awesome! And I love the watercolor :) My one critique is that Pinterest is misspelled - sorry, I'm a bit of a grammar/spelling nazi (not to mention a bit OCD) so I can't resist!

120969 Oh and as far as genres go. I'll read anything good, but my favorites are historical fiction and fantasy - especially both at once!

120969 Hey, I'm Katherine! I obviously love reading, as well as writing (not that I have much time for it anymore :/), music, good movies/tv, and gymnastics. And I'm about to start my last semester of architecture school - that generally sucks up my entire life, so hopefully I'll be able to stay involved once that happens!
