121247 I loved Gone Girl, but I was hesitant to engage with this one because I wondered if perhaps that morally corrupt, twisty-turny thing, once done, would be hard to replicate.

121247 The only way I could get through Ancillary Justice was via audio and I'm really enjoying The Traitor, Baru Cormorrant. I guess it depends on the narrator. You have to have someone who's voice takes you into the story.

121247 The Lies of Locke Lamora; a sort of heist / high / grimdark fantasy mash up that reads as a gritty version of Oliver if Oliver grew up and decided to grift wealthy business men. Solid writing, great world building without being onerous.
121247 Fell in love with Cayce Pollard from Pattern Recognition not sure why, but maybe it ws because she seemed so damaged and broken and yet somehow pushed through it.
121247 Neuromancer by Willaim Gibson = Made me fall in love with scifi that's not really scifi (Neuromancer)
The Road by Cormac McCarthy= A much better post apocalyptic book than most others out there as it feels believable and heartbreaking (The Road)
Where the Wild Things Are: My first book and the one that made me fall in love with reading for its ability to transport you to different places (Where the Wild Things Are)

121247 Hi all,

Frame by A.K. Alliss

I'm the author of the forthcoming novel, 'Frame' released by Atlas Productions. It will be released on Feb. 1st and tells the story of a widowed content producer for a social media celebrity who discovers that her client may be indirectly responsible for her husband's death. It is a speculative fiction thriller set five years from now and explores humanity's relationship with technology.

Regards,

AK

121247 I usually try to stick with 3 books at once, I read them on rotation, so one day will be book 1, day two for book 2 and day three for book 3 then backto book 1. I find that it keeps me fresh and not stuck as to what I read. I used to get a bit overwhelmed once I got a Kindle because there was just too much content and easily accessible, but the reading rotation seems to have fixed that.

How do you read? (138 new)

121247 I usually read until I lose interest and then move to another book. It sort of feels like dropping in and out of time lines. I like to think of myself as a literary time traveler.

121247 All Tomorrow's Parties This book really did it for me, it showed me a future I knew was going to happen, just not when and how much of it would actually occur at that time. I loved the idea that the future is fluid, but this book really extrapolated a lot from the time when it was written.

121247 Feeling a bit work stressed right now, but all good. (Probably why I'm procrastinating). Looking forward to getting an early night tonight.

121247 Hi All, I'm Adam, reader first, author second. I love all genres but particularly enjoy speculative fiction, noir , sci-fi and fantasy. I take any opportunity I can to read as I think it makes my writing stronger. I love immersing myself in books that challenge you, both in content and writing style. Favourite book would be All Tomorrow's Parties by William Gibson.
