50x66 "The relationship between theology and philosophy is akin to the relationship between siblings, they are either the best of friends or the worst of enemies, depending on the situation and who else is in the room."
[For Faith and Clarity, James K. Beilby, editor;
Introduction,"The Contribution of Philosophy to Theology", James K. Beilby:]

"Like siblings, philosophy and theology share a common genetic bond - the search for truth, beauty, goodness, and understanding. Nevertheless, differences in personality, environment, methodology, and presuppositions create an aura of suspicion that often emerges when the two disciplines enter into conversation."
[Ibid:]

50x66 1. Are you a philosopher?
2. Have you ever asked the same questions presented on pgs. 12-14 before reading them here?
3. Do you agree "The only thing we require to be good philosophers is the faculty of wonder."?

50x66 In Challenge 1 for Philosophy, we are reading Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder. This is an introductory glimpse into the history of western philosophical thought. I am posting questions for my Challenge students on the Challenge 1 group. I will be posting questions here also. Sometimes the questions in both groups may be the same, sometimes the questions may be different. Please join in, if you want to think deep and hard. How did we get to our present day, philosophic modernistic way of thinking, join us and find out!

50x66 2nd semester for Challenge 1 we will start with Born Again by Chuck Colson. Some of you old timers may recognize Chuck as Pres. Nixon's, chief counsel, also known as Nixon's "hatchet man" from Watergate. Chuck became a Christian in 1973, and started the prison ministry 'Prison Fellowship". During class we will be discussing topics regarding personal integrity and public service among other things.
