125878 I agree that this book should have made it on the Stonewall list. It really got me thinking about homosexuality versus transgenderism (is that the right word?). This plus LGBT life in a Muslim society as well as life in a Muslim society in general make it excellent for book discussions.

I thought that the audio was pretty well done, although there were times when she really ran sentences together. I loved her voice. And, not that it impacts the audio in any way, but did anyone else think her voice was very cat-like? :)

125878 The audio was truly amazing. They did an excellent casting job on the narrators!

125878 I agree that while you might be able to sell your horror lovers on the suspense and the gore, those expecting a lot of fast action might not be patient enough to sit through the pacing. Rebecca, I totally agree with you--it's so King-like his fans would enjoy it. Monstrumologist fans might enjoy it too.

Funnily enough, I finished last year's challenge after Rotters because it just drained me. I told my teens I just didn't like the book but, when I was telling them about it, I guess my descriptions were so passionate some of them said that THEY wanted to read the book now! I didn't like it then but, the more I think about it, and while listening to Scowler, I think I really liked Rotters a lot more than I thought I did!

125878 The narrator was very entertaining but I have to agree that there was not enough zombie action for a book that had zombie and beatdown in the title. Those action scenes were pretty good, though. And the zombie cow head? EUGH!

I thought the sidebars about immigration, poor working conditions, and hormone injected meat added another level to the story, but that those parts went on a little too long and bordered on preachy.

125878 I totally agree! Swim the Fly is a good one for laughs too! A little heavier on the innuendos, but in a way I think it's even funnier.
