Notifications Update:

To receive notifications on your reviews:
After writing and posting your review, place a comment in your comment section, then click the notify me box before posting your comment. It is the only way you will receive notifications when someone leaves a comment on your reviews.

To receive notifications on your own status updates:
Once you post a status update, immediately go to your profile page. Locate your status update. Click "See Status". Once there, click the notify me box and then place a comment on your own status. This will ensure you will receive notifications if someone leaves a comment on your status updates. Same thing goes for when you post pictures on your profiles or in your group's photo section.

To be able to follow updates on a friend's review or status update:
You will need to like their status updates or reviews from your updates feed page first, and also post your initial comment to their status and reviews from your updates feed page as well. This is the only way that the notify me box on their postings will stay checked, and to ensure you get regular updates on their postings whenever they or someone else leaves a comment there.

To stay updated on group posts:
Sometimes your notifications will not come through. This is not going to be corrected by GRs. No matter how many times you adjust your settings for groups. To make sure you are up to date on all group happenings you will simply need to make sure you are reading all group emails sent to you by your moderators.

You will also need to begin to make an effort to go directly to your group's homepage whenever you are on the platform. From the homepage, click on the discussion board link. This will show you every group section's new post and thread in that group. Simply click on the red numbers of the threads that you are following. You will see every new post in that specific thread.

Unfortunately, the notify me box is no longer working on Polls. Only the creator of that poll will see when you comment. You are no longer able to get a notification after you post a comment on a poll and check the notify me box. Once you leave the poll page, that box becomes un-checked. There is no work-around for this. If you want to stay informed on comments on polls, or videos posted in your groups, you will manually have to go to that poll yourself, in order to view them.

This is the only way you will continue to make sure that you are an active and informed member of your groups and this community platform as a whole. Your group moderators have had to adjust to this as well, in order to keep you informed and your groups organized for your benefit.

Please show your appreciation for their efforts, by making a real effort in utilizing this information that was researched and given to benefit you, when you are on the GRs platform.

I have a rant. I don't normally do this. I typically just tell you all what I know or have found out and I leave it at that. Today, one of those rare days that I just can't keep my feelings quiet.

Many of you GRs lifers are probably aware of this, but some of you are not. Do you all remember that little sort button at the top of each group thread? The one right next to the "newest" button?

Well these two buttons serve a very important purpose for members. The "Newest" button allows members to go to the latest page in a group thread. The "Sort/update" button, well this button would allow you to sort your posts on any page thread from newest to old or vice versa.

A benefit for GRs members because it allowed you to see all new posts in that thread first, instead the older ones first. This way you were able to see every updated post without issue and wouldn't miss anything new in the threads. Well this button has been disabled since I believe December 2024 or January 2025. Not long at all after they removed email notifications and changed the notifications system on the website itself. Then this button to sort new posts from old ones was disabled.

They disabled this button shortly after they disabled the way auto notifications are given on this website, and all of this came about after they immediately stopped personal email notifications.

If you think about it, it is just another way they've made it difficult for members to stay on top of what is going on in their groups. Which is why they haven't fixed that button yet.

The notify me boxes for the threads, polls, status updates, reviews and photos are no longer working properly, or in many cases at all, for most members on this website. They have not even attempted to fix these things. Not only do they keep happening, they keep getting worse.

The Zon are effectively making Glitchreads a non active book community. I'm pretty sure that very soon there won't be any notifications given at all, on this website. They're going to disable everything. That's been their MO since taking over this site in 2013.
It's just a matter of time before it happens.

The only thing they've integrated on this site, and quite well, is all the new features on our bookshelves and on book info pages that funnels more traffic to amazon.com, while still remaining logged onto GRs.

Everything else is falling apart on this site. Their solution, after awhile has always been just to disable it instead of fixing it. Or like with notifications, purposely removing it. Saves money the less features we have here on this site.

In regards to what Nya has stated in the above post, #22, about how to ensure you are receiving updates on your friends' review discussions that you wish to follow; I have also figured out a way that you can see comments left on your book status and general status updates.

Alternative until GRs fixes this glitch:

^Once you post a status update, you will then need to go to profile page immediately and locate that status update on your profile.

^Click the tab "See Status" it will then take you to your update.

^Click the like button on your own status update.

^Click the notify me box as well.

^Then leave a comment in the comment section of your own status. It doesn't matter what you type here, just as long as this comment is posted. This will then allow your notify me box to remain checked, so you will receive notifications when someone comments on your status updates.

I have heard rumors of this being a test run for GRs into making the community into just a like a review or status community, much like it is on the Zon, and to do away with actual interaction outside of groups on this platform.

Again, these are just rumors and nothing definite. I only wanted this information to be in our members' eye line if it becomes real, so no one is completely shocked by it or blindsided if it happens in the future.

I rated this book one star.

This book is very disturbing.
I'm trying to decide if I will complete it or not.
