Thank you Meghan!

Thanks for your support Meghan! This was my attempt to get more of my fellow Permuted authors using goodreads. But if you read through this thread, you can tell it kind of fell flat! LOL. But goodreads has always been a great experience for me. I don't look at it as a way to try to push my sales, but more as a way to connect with readers.

126965 Yea I totally get what you're saying Shay and Debra. I know this is going to sound absolutely stupid, but when it comes to goodreads I don't really care about the sales too much. There's really no way to track it anyway. I look at it this way, I have a presence on GR. I'm here, interacting as a reader as well as a writer. If somebody enjoys my book, and they look for me on here and find me, friend me, fan me etc; They get the satisfaction of being able to talk to me online, and then maybe...just maybe they'll tell their friends about my books. So it's just a matter of being everywhere our readers like to "hang out". It takes a lot of time. I think the advice all of the older permutants tend to give, is just write more books. That's the only way to make your current readers happy and to consistently add new readers.

Oh and Shay, been there done that. (As in ACU's in Iraq). So I totally know what you mean. I just started a new job actually in a steel mill.

Wow Debra..that's pretty intense. I bet that was hard to write. Permuted is publishing my zombie book series, Z PLAN. I wrote the first book while I was deployed to Iraq. It's about a soldier who is overseas when the zombie outbreak begins, and he is trying to get home to his family in the states. I self-published the first book. So permuted is re-releasing it next month. The sequel is done and will be out in July, and I'm working on the third and final book of Z Plan now. I've got a couple of more sci-fi adventure books in the works too.
Blood on the Sand (Z Plan #1) by Mikhail Lerma
Red Tides (Z Plan #2) by Mikhail Lerma
(The book covers will be different with permuted.)

126965 Sorry to hear about your son Debra.

Will you be turning your experiences with hauntings into a book? Or have you already?

126965 Debra wrote: "hey I got the haunted house covered Michael...:)"

My wife loves haunted houses, she would like to buy one someday. Hey Debra...you've got to answer the questions too! We want to know more about you as well!

126965 Very nice Michael. I'm a batman fan too. Did you see the new show coming out in the fall I think...Gotham! Looks pretty good. Seems like we like the same games too. What's your gamertag on xbox?

126965 Ok thanks guys. Yea, I sent Michael an email this morning. I hate this feeling about not wanting to bug them about my own book.

126965 Mark wrote: "Did you at least get through the editing process already?"

Well my first book was already heavily edited before I self published it. Now they are re-publishing it, it's the first book in a series. The second and third books will have to be edited though. I would like to send an email asking for an update on the book covers, but I don't want to come off as impatient. Anybody out here already have a book come out with permuted? When should I expect my book covers to be ready before my release date?
May 10, 2014 05:01PM

126965 Sorry I've been M.I.A. from goodreads for awhile. I didn't really mean to, but took a little break from my online profiles. Welcome everyone new! My book is supposed to be coming out next month, but I haven't heard about my book covers yet. I hate this feeling of not knowing what to do, or where I stand in this publishing process. Anyone else feeling overwhelmed?
Feb 17, 2014 11:26AM

126965 Ok ok..I've chilled. Have I told any of you how much my day job sucks? It stresses me out and I get cranky.

Have any of you worked on a feedlot, especially in the dead of winter? It blows major dick...and not in the fun way.

You know the snickers commercials featuring cranky celebrities?
Well my job turns me into Roseanne Barr. Someone hand me a god damn snickers...
Feb 17, 2014 10:39AM

126965 Sorry, I don't mean to be snippy. I'm just getting slightly annoyed with the whole 'not knowing if goodreads is worth it' thing. If it works for you, great. If it doesn't, then don't use it. I'm not the spokesperson for goodreads. I was only trying to help. And I keep getting unnecessary attitude here and in the FB group about it.

New or veteran permuted author, I think we all can agree it's better to help one another, which is all I was trying to do.
Feb 16, 2014 08:01AM

126965 Sorry, the link doesn't work. If anyone actually wants to read it you can look for it on the site yourself. It's actually pretty helpful. But I'm not going to waste my time if nobody gives a fuck.

You want the short and sweet?
Don't be a dick. In fact don't even try to interact with readers unless you have nothing but nice things to say.

And my name isn't Mik. It's Mikhail. My friends call me Khail for short.
Feb 15, 2014 03:27PM

126965 Welcome Michael! I just started this group just a few days ago. And I'm a new permuted author too. ;)
Feb 15, 2014 03:20PM

126965 I don't know if you guys have gone through any of the author guidelines and tutorials here on goodreads, but they're actually pretty helpful as a starting off point. Here's a link to check out if you wish.
