129001 Hey folks,

Two pieces of news. First, Ravena and I are inviting any interested listener to join us via Skype on the next podcast. We're talking about our favorite books we read in 2015 and want to hear from you!

Join us on Sunday, December 6 at 7PM Eastern. Just add me on skype (serena.mcclain) and let me know you want to join Sunday's call!

Finally, have you guys seen Scarlet's giveaway?

129001 Hey gang,

Ravena and I have been silent on here for the last several months as we navigate unbridled enthusiasm for way too many things. The podcast is going strong, but to be honest, we just don't know how best to maximize this space.

We are interested in hearing from you! How best do you interact with groups on Goodreads? If you could have us change anything, what would it be?

Thanks!
Holiday Reading (2 new)

129001 Am I the only who gets less reading done over the holidays? I haven't read any books in over a week, and one of my library books just expired. Yikes! If you're reading, what books have you been loving this month?

129001 Ooo...I've heard good things about The Martian. I need to add it to my to-read list.

129001 Are you partial to digital or physical books? I love the convenience of digital but definitely do both. What books have you picked up physical copies of recently? I bought How to Build a Girl and Annihilation in the past month.

129001 Our one-year anniversary of the That's What She Read podcast is coming up on September 30, and we really want to do something special. What would you all like to see??

129001 I just finished Blackbirds by Chuck Wendig (enjoyed it), and Miriam Black, the protagonist, can see how and when someone dies when she touches them. Would you want a psychic ability? If you had to have one, what would you want it to be?
Audio Book Recs (3 new)

129001 It's okay :-) The majority of the drive was finishing Good to Great, and I just listened to podcasts after that.
Audio Book Recs (3 new)
Jul 31, 2014 07:15PM

129001 I've been powering through audio books on a recent (err...current) drive to and from a conference and am loving the ability to "read" so fast! I need a new book recommendation as I power through the last of my drive tomorrow. Any recommendations?

P.S. A new episode TWSR is live! I talk about Perdido Street Station, which I ended up really getting into.

129001 The latest episode of That's What She Read is live. I know I'm biased, but the conversation we had with Rebecca Schinsky of Book Riot is so much fun! Listen to the podcast and then come back and tell us which actor you'd cast as a 55-year old Batman (of the Dark Knight variety).

129001 Thanks (re podcast)! I don't usually modify my reading habits, but I guess I was inspired. The downside of my declaring that I'm going to read X books over X period of time is that I almost always change my mind or life gets in the way :-) Lynn wrote: "Since I work full time and my children are grown, my reading habits don't really change much from season to season.

129001 Let's talk about summer reading! I'm curious whether any of you vary your reading habits over the summer. Do you switch to "beach reads"? And what really are beach reads? Participate in the Infinite Jest read-along? I talk about it on the last two podcasts, but this summer I'm tackling the books from the syllabus of Junot Diaz's class on world building.
129001 Ooo...I've had Lexicon on my list for several months now. I need to pull the trigger!
129001 I still need to read Maddaddam, Stephanie! I would say soon, but I'm taking on a special summer reading challenge. Totally agree though re Mr. Penumbra's. I read that one last year on someone's rec.
129001 Adding it to my list, Marie :-)

P.S. In the episode that goes live on Tuesday, you'll all totally hear me cry when talking about Gilead. Sigh.
129001 May is almost over! Out of all the books you plowed through this month, which one stands out the most? That book for me is Gilead. It completely blindsided me despite everything I'd heard about it.

129001 Hey gang -

In the latest episode of the TWSR podcast, I find myself wondering whether there are other books where the protagonist is female and envisions/deludes themselves into thinking they are a superhero (think The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay). Any recommendations for a chick with a superhero complex??
