Access was an agency, a designed business that ran off of secret information that was eaither bribed or stolen from others. They trained assassins to kill and they made sure that all of this was done secretly. That there wouldn't be any mistakes, and if there was one, depending on the rank of that person, he or she would die. Will knew this, he had made a mistake in their eyes, his was that he was close to the Harth family. After days of pain, they finally took the information that they could from him and seeing that they couldn't get anything more they threw him out as bait. He was supposed to have died, they wanted him to die, a method Access wasn't afraid of using, but Will was able to turn things around in his favor. That was the reason he was still alive today instead of in a million pieces, he had made Access think that he was an asset to their company, and as long as they thought that, he would live.
Will should have agreed right then and there to join Enzi on her mission to destroy Access. Afterall, they were the ones who had killed her mother and the only person he ever thought of as a father. Enzi's plans should have been his, her resolve should be motivating his every move but yet, it wasn’t. He had a choice back then whether to live or die, he remembered the bomb positioned so close to him he could hear the ticking. There was only two options at that point, choosing the easier route, to die or to try to live. The one thing that kept coming back to him, the reason why he chose to not die was because he wanted to know what had happened to Mackenzie. Her image, the letter he had received from her father, and the impending knowledge that Access was seeking to kill her was all that Will needed to choose whether to live or die.
Once he had been recruited, the only thought that Will had was to gather information in order to find out where Enzi was hiding. If we wasn't with Access, then he would be running blind folded, not knowing which direction to turn or even knowing where to start searching for her. She was her father's daughter, she had grown up in a military base, she knew how to evade cameras, how to keep quiet and stay hidden. Access was Will's only ticket to finding her, but first he needed to make sure they weren't going to throw him out, so what did he do...he did everything he was told. Following orders, that was something Will was used to, something that he didn't hesitate to follow. If it meant staying on Access' good graces, to be moved up, to be trusted then he would do it.
But now, he had the one thing that he had been working so hard to accomplish. He knew where Enzi was, she was right here in front of him. What did he expect to do at this point? With her resolve, he couldn't dare to think of changing her mind but he also knew that going up against Access, well, she couldn't do it alone. He knew where Access was located, he knew the names of those in command, he knew the layout of their base. In truth, he could help Enzi way more than what she probably thought he was capable of. She didn't know how long he had been there, what he had to do in order to get to the rank he was at. If it weren't for Enzi, he might have continued in that work, it was a way for him to live, because with his past and the things that he knew, he had to eaither continue working for Access or risk getting killed by them.
Will restrained himself from glancing over at the bag that held the gun inside of it. All that Access wanted was Enzi, to take her in and then Will's mission would be over. He could go on living his life, but if he chose to help Enzi, then that would lead to more complications, danger, and possibly death. Will's lips curved slightly into a smile, he put his head down to hide it from Enzi, he didn't want her to think he was laughing at her notion of taking down Access. He was merely laughing at the fact, that the decision he had to make wasn't even a decision to make at all. He had already made it the moment he decided to enter Access three years ago.
"You have no idea what Access can do, how many people they have, the kind of weapons they carry and the back up systems they have in order to make sure that their secrets never get released to the public." Will stared at Enzi, looking into her eyes, but throughout all this time, she never once backed down, he saw it in her that she was ready, she wouldn't walk away just because of information she wasn't aware of or the unknown danger. If she didn't know something, she would figure it out, if there were weapons, she would find a way to get through them. And if there wasn't a path set out for her to take, she would make one herself. But, she didn't have to do it alone, "You may not know those details, but I do, and you are going to need my help if you want to bring Access down."

The garage was not necessarily empty, it being so late at night but cars still filled the spots in rows. Most of the employees had gone home, the night nurses being on duty for any emergencies. Usually, Emma would be one of the doctors that stayed on for the night shift. She would eat something before her shift at the downstairs cafeteria and then monitor the halls. She had a routine, people she visited, the specific patients she paid extra attention to due to their condition. All of this she did without worrying that there would be someone at home missing her, waiting for her.
As they walked together to Attican's car, she wondered if anyone would even care to hear about what happened today. Would they care or just laugh it off, a common human reaction when one did not know how to respond. Her parents weren't even reachable most of the year and Emma never had any siblings, nor was she close to any relatives. But, she wasn't lonely, going home to a quiet, nice and comfortable home seemed ideal and most welcoming at the moment. However, something tugged at the back of Emma's head, a bit of acknowledgement that no one usually worried about the doctor.
Attican's voice snapped Emma out of her thoughts and back into her immediate surroundings. "I almost forgot...the car's a little dirty," he said to her, pausing as if he was failing to mention something more. Emma tried to peer into the back through the tinted windows but failed to notice anything. He was being considerate, although people who usually said those things never really had a dirty home, they were just being polite. Attican opened the car, a small click sound came from behind the, the locking mechanism releasing its pull on the lock. "It's fine, I am sure that..." once he opened the door and she took a peek at the back she noticed the blood stained seats. There was an iron smell that escaped the car and noticing her own surprise, she quickly made sure to regain composure on her face.
It wasn’t like Emma had never been around blood or wasn’t used to the sight or smell of it. She was a doctor after all, one who had dealt with numerous amounts of surgeries in her career. But, she just hadn't expected 'a little dirty' to mean that there was blood from Jackson who had been injured that morning and taken to the hospital in this car. She had not seen how the patient had come in, she only saw him wheeled into the emergency room, she half expected he had come in an ambulence.
Emma sat down and tugged at the seat belt to secure herself, "I am sorry, I didn't know that you had taken Officer Jackson all the way here, I thought you had come afterwards. I am fine with the blood, don't worry, I have a good cleaner at the house you can use in order to get blood stains out." She had noticed the bit of blood that was on his shirt and jacket, she herself had gotten the girl's blood on her, the one who had been shot and then disappeared after she had been treated. But, she had left those clothes in her office for the hospital's laundry department to clean it, Emma barely realized she was still in her scrubs. Well, after getting out of surgery, she didn’t have time to change, then she had gotten attacked and afterwards all she wanted to do was go home.
"My house is on South Street, just a few blocks from here," Emma said as she pulled the car door to close it. She let her eyes wander over to Attican as he got everything in order to start going in the direction of her house. He looked calm, and resourceful, this entire time she had been relying on him for help, trying to get a grasp of this situation. Emma wondered if all officers were this reliable, but she was glad that Attican had even accepted to come with her. She secretly wished he was worried about her, more than just doing the work that he was supposed to perform. It wasn't like she was expecting anything from this or from him, that wasn’t on her mind at all. It was moreso that she liked this feeling of being protected, being rescued from danger, something she constantly did for others. Emma sat back in the chair and relaxed, slowly but surely the anxiety she had felt earlier was disappearing.

It was all for information, that much he could say, honestly, he knew the exact reasons why they wanted her. The exact information they wanted to pull and then Access also wanted to know what she did but they didn't. They acted as if she was some key to a treasure box that they were itching to open. They had lost this key years before and now, that they were so close to getting it back, to obtaining the infornation that Enzi knew. They had begun to take extra measures to make sure she would be found.
Will wouldn't be surprised if they had secretly sent another group to obtain her. That would be just like Access, they never put their trust into just one thing, they had multiple back ups for every situation. Will guessed that was why no one really knew about them, they cleaned up their tracks and made sure no blood was left. However, Enzi was part of their tracks that they wanted erased, without doing so, she could possibly tear the veil that covered Access' plans.
Then where did that leave Will, he obviously wanted to help Mackenzie and all she wanted to do was uncover the truth. Will knew the truth, the reason why her mother died, the unexpected death of her father and what they wanted from her. He could tell her all this, settle her heart from these past few years filled with shadows. Or, he could have tried to bring Access' plans to the world, making everything come to light and try to stop their plans from going further. He knew the destruction they caused, the lives they have taken and the future they wished to create. But Will had done nothing to stop them, in fact, he didn't know where to start. If he had, he would have been dead by now and unable to contact Enzi.
Perhaps those were just excuses, but he was using Access for information just as much as they were using him. He was a weapon that could be used over and over again. Bu, he doubted that the path he decided to take the moment he met Enzi in the subway would have completely shattered the trust he had built with them. He had to though, if he wanted to earn Mackenzie's trust, he couldn’t be on the fence between the two sides.
"They think that you know what your mother was working on in the lab, and I know that you want to figure out why they killed your mother and father. It was them who had planned it, and their agents who had killed them. The sample your mother obtained is the reason for all this." He was probably repeating things that Enzi knew already, that was why she was out here, trying to figure out why they had to kill someone over a measly sample. But that sample was actually a virus, and by the looks of it, Enzi having been exposed to it before, she was possibly immune to the substance or else she would be dead by now.
Will didn’t know the full contents of what the virus contained. He just knew it was deadly and that whoever could buy it at a high price was theirs for the taking. But Access wouldn't be sending it out unless their was an antidote for themselves. Will stopped for a moment, his breath slowing down, could Access think she had the antibodies within her that held a cure? Will shot a look at Enzi, as if just looking at her would solve the answer to his question. He didn't know what they truly had planned but Will didn't want to hand her over to them to find out.
"What I want to know, is what your attentions are? Did you think that you could stop all this, figure out what really happened and avenge their deaths?" Will wanted to know what she had in mind, until when would she keep running? Did she want to live in hiding forever or was she hoping she could start over and have a new life? Of course it would be hard to let this all go, to turn her back on what she knew. But, if there was a chance that he could get her out of this before Access was able to get their hands on her then he would. He wish he could say the same for himself, but he was far too deep in their grid to turn against them. Hopefully, it wasn't too late for Enzi, but he highly doubted she would turn away from this, that just wasn’t in her nature.

There was a comfortable feeling about dropping formalities between them. She wouldn't have to stumble over her words to act proper, but with the titles, she felt like they were able to maintain a relationship of a doctor and an officer speaking to each other. Doctor Tullen seeing Officer Attican with his shirt off was merely a doctor and patient relationship that held no other feelings. Now, Emma seeing Attican with his shirt off, seemed like it made things more personal, mixed with feelings of interest somewhere in the middle. But, she wasn’t in the mood to tease, instead she gave him a small smile and they continued to walk together toward the parking lot.
"You can call me by my first name, Emma, and leave the doctor part out since we will be leaving the hospital. Thank you, by the way, for taking me. I didn’t want to take you away from other duties." Emma stopped herself from speaking more, she was sure that if she did then she would convince herself that he was busy and she was imposing an unnecessary request upon him.
The door to the elevator pinged open and Emma let Attican lead the way to the parking lot where his car was. She knew her way down there but not the exact location of Attican's car. On the way down she thought of the other name that he said that she could call him as, Atty. It was the least formal way of addressing him, and almost had a slight endearing tone, no matter which way she rehearsed saying it in her head. She imagined yelling it out of concern, then trying to whisper it, then trying to say it with anger. People would think she was rather strange thinking of this but it helped her to get things off of her mind. Especially in a time like this she preffered pondering over nicknames, nice ones that she never had, rather than worry over possibly having been choked to death.
One of her thoughts suddenly escaped and her mouth opened, softly and quietly saying the word, "Atty." Emma shot right up to look at Attican who was standing right beside her at the entrance to the larking lot and he looked down at the mention of his name. That wasn’t supposed to have happened, she didn't mean to slip those words out of her brain. But, what would be the excuse...she definately wouldn't tell him the actual truth. So, she just had to address it casually, "Ahh, is your car to the left or to the right." Nice save Emma, that cleared your name from looking like a fool.
((You can reply here or at the thread to Emma's house, I do not mind, eaither way, she will tell him the directions to her house, so that part is a given.))

Everything was successful so far, Emma had reached the door, nodded at a couple of nurses to acknowledge their presence and onlooking eyes. But, nonetheless, she was standing tall wasn’t she, there was no sign of worry or confusion in her face. Emma knew what everyone must be thinking, 'poor, defenseless doctor, I feel sorry for her.' Yes, Emma could hear it all in her head, their stares said it all but she wouldn't succumb to it, she wouldn't give them the benefit of being a bystander to this sudden danger that occured in the hospital.
If Emma was scared, which she was, she would deny it. If she was startled by sudden noises, she would fake her reaction to not look foolish. These were only two of the many things she did to maintain the image, in order to look after herself.
Emma blinked a couple of times, making sure she had heard the right voice of Attican calling out to her. She looked back at him, hoping that there wouldn't be anymore questioning from the officer about what just happened. But even if he did ask, she couldn’t blame him, he was merely doing his job, a duty he had to perform in order to solve the case. But the questions didn't come, the straight forward cold attitude that she might have accepted in this situation was absent. In its place came a caring gesture of concern, but somehow Emma took no offense to the words as she might have from anyone else.
"Umm, right, I am not sure what I can do at this point. I think it would be best to leave the hospital, in case they come back, but I would like to be home." She didn't know what Attican was implying, could he bring her back to the police station, surely she would be the safest there. Emma didn't like that idea though, she would feel too out of place and unable to relax but in order to get home she would need some help. She had to admit some kind of defeat, she didn’t want to risk being behind the wheel of a vehicle and causing further trouble due to her unbalanced state of mind.
"Attican, I mean Officer Attican, I have a favor to ask, although you can turn it down. I do understand you are busy and..." Emma stopped herself from explaining her actions, if she let herself continue she would be standing here all night. "Would you mind dropping me off at my house? I regret to admit that I do not trust myself driving in my state of mind."
Emma had cut to the chase, there was no point in prolonging the inevitable question she had planned on asking. But just like that, one of Emma's many walls fell down at her feet. That was the wall titled 'pride' and as much as she wanted to grab the stones to rebuild it back up again, she knew she needed help. She could have always called a taxi, but that would mean relying on a stranger to take her home. She had enough of dealing with strangers for one day, especially when she felt slightly paranoid now but wasn't Attican a stranger.
No, Emma reminded and convinced herself, he wasn't a stranger. She had saved his life, he was a cop in the police department, trustworthy and she had seen him often since the time of their first meeting that day in the midst of the hostage case at the bank. Emma blew out a long held breath she didn't realize she had been holding, hoping that she was making the right choice.

There had been a time of silence that followed as Will set up the IV bag properly. But, he wasn't bothered by it, he knew that there would be a lot that needed to be taken in right now. There would be time for talk, time to understand and through all this, they each needed to sort out three years or more of what had happened.
He knew it wouldn't be easy, things like this never were when it came to expressing one's own emotions and thoughts. The thought process of the mind was fast and ever changing, if there was only some way that she could tap into his brain and see everything. Will stopped himself right there, because there were certain things he didn't want her to know. He would let her know what was needed, and that would be all. She didn't need to know every detail, every face or name that had been at the end point of the barrel of his gun.
Will turned over to her, pulling the cord long enough to be able to reach Enzi comfortably. Without asking, he grabbed her right hand, found a good vein and put the needle in so that it could begin its intended work. It pained him to hear that she had been through so much, he shouldn't be this emotionally attached but it was due to his responsibility he had put on himself.
He knew that she was more than capable of taking care of herself, hadn’t her father reminded him of it countless of times. She would wander off by herself, join the other soldiers for a game of cards and yet, Will wanted to make sure she didn't fall into harms way. Yet, Commander Harth knew his daughter, he knew he couldn't stop her from doing what she wanted but he also trusted her and believed in her.
Will had to do the same, he couldn't cradle her, there was no point in putting a big brother face on like he had grown accustomed to in the past. He only wished he could talk her out of putting herself in harms way but she didn't do this to herself. He very well knew that she had been dragged in, despite her own will.
He returned back to the bag he had brought in and took out a couple of more medical tools, his suit he had worn earlier, water bottles and some bread. He looked at the last item in the bag, the gun he had retrieved that was hidden behind a dumpster that he had put there before they had first walked into the hospital. Will decided to leave that in there and zipped up the bag, knowing well that Enzi had used that gun on him before.
"I want you to be out of harms way from the agency who is after you, they go by the name of Access. Their entire goal is all in the name, they obtain, examine and retrieve everything that is ordered of them." Will moved to the bathroom that was connected to their room and pulled out the hand towel. He walked back to MacKenzie as he dried his hair that had gotten wet due to the rain. "You, as you very well know, are what they wish to obtain."
There wasn’t a way to sugar coat anything from here on out, Access wanted Enzi to pull out every single piece of information she knew. They would do so by any means necessary, retrieve what was valuable to them and at the end, throw her dead body out, making it look like an accident. Will had seen it happen before, many times, and he wasn't going to let that happen to her.

A bit of relief washed over Emma as she heard that her card would be deactivated soon. If it was just the case of her misplacing the item, that would be fortunate but it was always better to be safe than sorry. Emma knew however that deactiviting the card key would take the expertise of a programmer.
There was usually always one at the hospital, in case complications with the computers or any other piece of technology started acting up. But, during the night hours, the specialist maintained an on call status, available but only after calling him. This process would take him some time to get to the hospital in order to perform his role.
Words couldn’t describe how thankful Emma felt toward Attican as he spoke to her. There was a hint of worry that those who had harmed her would come find her again. They had run away, and Emma thought that there was a possibility that they were in some kind of mess. She had planned to ask the girl but she wasn’t even offered the opportunity to do so.
Now she was at risk, she had seen both of their faces, and was still alive. Maybe the person who had done this to her actually wanted her dead. They might have miscalculted, thinking that Emma's unconscious state was actually her dead lifeless body. Emma wanted to shudder at the thought, but once those people realized that she was still breathing, would they come back?
It was a slight paranoia, and she tried to remind herself that someone couldn’t have been that foolish. She had been breathing after her fall, and when she awoke she was by the wall, further away from where she had last stood before the attack. They would have noticed but a hundred questions still raced through her mind.
She was finally gaining a bit of composure and she moved her feet around a bit to make sure she had a grip on her sensorimotor skills. Emma knew it was time to get up, she would take her fellow doctor's advice and head home, and get some rest. "Thank you Doctor, Attican and staff, I think it would be best for me to head home now." Emma tried to speak with a sense that she had everything under control now.
She demonstrated it by standing up from the hospital bed and smiled before she continued on her way. Don't trip Emma, don't falter, show how poised you are, just like we've practiced for so many years now. Ever since she was little she had to take care of herself, she had to be able to stand up to the challenge. She couldn't let anyone see when she was weak, that was Dr.Tullen, everyone had said, able to bounce back from anything.
Her only downfall had been that surgery last year that had torn her up. The one she had failed at, but she was determined not to show that again. She could make it to her office, get her car keys and drive home. It would be no big deal, however her right hand started to shake a little and Emma quickly tucked it away into the pocket of her pants. Atleast she hoped she could make it, there was always the option of sleeping in her office.

The doctor's body fell limp and Will reacted quickly to support her so that she wouldn't crumble down to the floor. He had applied enough pressure to her throat that her blood supply would stop going to her brain and would render her unconscious. He brought her carefully over to the cabinets at the side of the wall that the door was on, and took off her lab coat as well as her ID tag. He quickly put the lab coat on and tucked the id in his pocket to hide to image of the doctor, Will looked down to read the ID and saw Dr. Emma Tullen printed on the card right below her image.
William had looked around the room previously, the moment he had gotten in he spotted a wheelchair that was folded up on the other side of the room. Will pulled it out and brought it next to the bed that Enzi was laying on and then carefully took out the ivs and equipment that was connected to Enzi that would monitor her vitals. Once he had finished he lifted her off of the bed and set her in the wheelchair. He placed her in a way that didn’t make it too obvious that she was still not fully awake yet and was merely relaxing.
Will stared at the door that led to the hallway and in a couple of seconds Will mentally pictured the route he would take to get them both out of here. Normally, he was very calm about the situation, in missions he had been in before he could escape a building easily without drawing attention to himself and risking getting caught. But he had been alone all those times before or with others that he didn't care whether they lived or died just as long as the mission was complete. Up to a point, Will didn’t care about his life eaither but now, everything had changed due to Enzi. He, at this moment, was responsible for both of them and it was up to his ability whether they got out or not.
Will pushed the door open and casually walked out of the room, heading straight for the elevator. He didn't know how long he had before someone found Dr.Tullen's body on the floor or until he ran into someone like that cop he had seen earlier. The elevator door pinged open and Will calmly got in with Emma, thankfully there wasn’t a lot of movement this late in the night and no one accompanied him in the elevator. He pinged the elevator to the first floor where he would get off and make their final way to the front door.
It wouldn’t be done as easily as he said it, if it had been daytime then he might get away with taking a patient out for a stroll around the front courtyard for some air. But taking a patient out in the middle of the night seemed rather odd. Nonetheless, Will didn’t have any other option, that was the only way in and out of the hospital.
Will made sure to keep his head down the entire time, he knew that surveillance cameras were all around this place and he didn't want the people watching them to notice that he wasn't one of the doctors that they normally saw walking these halls. The door slid open and Will made sure not to quicken his pace but then he saw two men in scrubs walking in his direction and Will turned around, heading away from the entrance. He saw that he was going in another direction, emergency drop off where the ambulence had a side entrance that was mainly used for more urgent cases so that vehicles didn't have to fight their way into the front with everyone who normally walked in and out.
Thankfully, no one was there at the moment except for one woman talking to someone on the phone. She glanced up as she heard someone coming but by the sound of it, it seemed like she was in a heated arguement and hardly cared for anyone passing her way. Will nodded slightly to the women and continued on his way out the sliding doors, the sound of her voice trailed farther away as Will wheeled the chair to the side of the building. He stopped, picked up Enzi so that she was on his back, arms over his shoulders and he held onto her legs to make sure he supported her.
He needed to get MacKenzie to a place that was remotely comfortable and that no one would take a second glance at two people staying in a room together, no matter what they appeared like. Will made his way to a Motel, and booked a room for them, he didn't bring Enzi in when he had asked for the keys and only said that he was the only occupant in case cops went looking around for one male and female who had come in to book a room that night. If Enzi were in normal clothes he could have passed her off as being drunk and out of it, but she was wearing hospital clothing and that would be too suspicious, especially if people asked questions.
He walked into the room that was designated for them, and immediately closed the door behind him. He turned around and sat in the bed, letting Enzi's body slide onto the bed in the most delicate manner he could muster. He layed her down comfortably, moved a blanket on her and made sure the pillow was supprting her head. Will looked down at Enzi, he was finally able to look at her without them constantly trying to fight each other. She looked the same but different all at the same time since he had last seen her three years ago. Her lips were curved slightly, her cheeks a little thiner than what he remembered and her hair still long with that dark color. She was beautiful, he remembered that much, it was something he had first thought when they had been introduced at the military base.
So what are you going to do now Will? There was an old clock that ticked menacingly at Will's silence as he leaned back against the wooden walls. He had originally hoped that he could make contact with Enzi, inform her of his intentions and quickly leave back to base so he could inform his supervisor. But, he had been gone too long, out of contact with the unit and in possible danger of being hunted himseld if they suspected him of helping Enzi. Of course, they had already suspected he would do so, there was no way of tricking them, of tricking the agency. Will had been foolish to request the mission but his better judgement had disappeared at the mention of Enzi's whereabouts.
Will looked up at the time, he couldn't stay here, he needed to finish a couple of things before he could calm his mind. Will looked over at the doctor's lab coat that hung over a chair and decided he wouldn't be needing that this time. He pulled the ID card out and put it in the pocket of his pants and took one last look at Enzi before heading out. Hopefully he would make it back in time before she woke up, that surely wouldn't go too well.
----------
Rain was pouring down steadily as Will made his way back to the motel. The rain was starting to soak through his shirt and Will quickened his pace once he reached the parking lot of the motel. He climbed up the stairs, and slid the card into the slot of the door to open the door to the room where he hoped Enzi would still be. He smiled, seeing her there and made notice of the rise and fall of her body to signify that she was still breathing normally. Will took off his wet squishy shoes and then swung the bag he had acquired over his head and began to take out an iv bag as well as additional items that he snagged from his second trip to the hospital.
He was starting to tie up the bag to the bed's headboard when he heard Enzi stir awake. She was quick to get up, no doubt her sudden realization that she was in a strange place. She called out to him with such confusion and Will rushed t make sure that she stayed seated on the bed. "Careful, you just got out of surgery a few hours ago," he cautioned her, "I took you there after you had gotten shot, but don't worry this janitor gettup I have on helped us clean up our tracks."
Will tried his best to smile but he wasn't being playful or funny, just trying to let her know that it wasn't a tense situation anymore. He continued to settup the iv fluids as soon as he made sure she wasn’t going to try to get up a second time. "How are you feeling, are you hurting anywhere? You"ll probably need this for now so that you can get your strength back sooner."

Roleplay status: Subway station -> Hospital -> Motel
But I think it would help if we put it right before we started to write in the thread as well if the person is coming from somewhere else.
I like to read everyone else's stories as well. Everyone is so creative so it would help to read along with the story and know where to begin rather than jumping in the middle :)

The whole world felt dizzy to Emma, she could hear muffled sounds, a female's voice but the words weren’t sounding right. The sound felt distant and Emma's body was drained, it felt like she had been taking a long nap and felt croggy and unstable. "Doctor, oh my goodness, Doctor, what happened," a voice called out again, this time Emma could hear a bit clearer. She had heard one question, but she didn't even know the answer. A dull pain started to appear around her neck and Emma touched it with her hand, the feeling and memories coming back to her.
Emma heard another voice, different than the female, it belonged to another doctor that worked in the hospital. His voice snapped her out of her train of thought and she nodded when he asked if she could get up off of the floor. He helped her up, she was thankful and of he hadn't have been supporting her, Emma was sure that her legs wouldn’t have supported her. As she reached the now empty hospital bed, she could feel her strength coming back to her but she knew she had to be cautious. The doctor started working quickly, looking over her as he made sure that she didn't have any cuts or bruises. Emma started to hear more people outside of the hall, murmuring, the air was starting to become stuffy and Emma closed her eyes to compose herself.
She felt the doctors light touch on her neck, and then he mentioned the possibility of her carotid artery having been compressed in order to restrict blood flow, causing her to faint. The memory rushed back into her head, she had been choked, by someone that had put her in a rear armhold. She wanted to suspect the man that had been in the room with her at the time, it had to be. Fear crippled Emma's body and mind as she was suddenly aware of the danger she had just gone through. In a moment, she could have died, and she hadn't been aware, she didn't know how to respond.
Her body responded for her, she began to shake and tears started to form in the ducts of her eyes, ready to brim over. Then, warm hands cupped her face, urgently but with care and she fell into them, leaning her head into the right hand. Attican looked down at her, his face a welcoming relief to her uncontrollable state. He had never saved her, nor did they share any mutual relationship further than patient and doctor. But his voice guided Emma back to a calm state, but it was mainly because he kept telling her that she was safe now. No one had said such a thing to her, and that was the only thing that she wanted right now.
She wanted to continue to hear him talk, it was a focus point that helped her find a firm ground to speak the words she needed to say. But she knew they needed answers, she was the only victim here, atleast she hoped she was and that no one else was hurt. Dismay tried to creep its way into Emma's mind but she somehow pushed it away and with a shaky voice she responded to Attican. "I'm not sure," Emma looked around the room and continued,"I was checking on the female patient when I suddenly felt someone put their arm around my neck. I started to lose my breath."
Emma couldn't say anything more, and the look in Attican's eyes reassured her that she didn't need to force herself anymore. She wanted to lay down, he head was still heavy and finally the doctor next to her finished his assesment. "I am not going to draw any blood from you, that will make your body weaker but we should check that tomorrow. "For now, I think you should go home, get risk and I will prescribe you a cream to help alleviate the pain you might be feeling around your neck. It will soothe the muscles and the pills will stop the inflammation that the bothered artery is causing." Emma nodded, she steadied her breath and wondered why this was all happening to her.
"Attican," Emma looked up at the direction of the male voice that had just called out to the man beside her, "I came in as soon as I got the call. It looks like it is more than just two patients that decided not to pay the bill this time, eh." The man was a police officer, he dressed in full uniform and from the sound of it, he was a deputy from the same police branch.
A male nurse walked in and went straight to the doctor beside Emma who was hotting down his findings. "Doctor Nolen, we ran the blood samples we had recieved on both of them, and we found something quite strange from both." Emma's head still felt heavy, she tried to pay attention, she wanted to hear and understand but the more she focused on them, the more tired she grew.
Emma reached for her ID badge that hung on a lanyard around her neck, she usually did this as a habit that calmed her nerves but it wasn't around her neck anymore. She looked around for it but it wasn't there, that's when it dawned on her that the lab coat she had been wearing was gone as well. She thought for a moment, wondering if she had even put those things on in the first place before entering the room but she was sure she had. "My ID badge, my coat, has anyone seen it," she asked as loud as she could, trying to project her voice but not sure if she had succeeded. It was a possibility that it had been removed by a nurse or a doctor a put away safely but she wanted to know.

Emma quickly changed into new clean scrubs, cleansed her hands thoroughly and put on gloves to enter the emergency room. She knew that she had left Attican back in the lobby without so much of a glance goodbye but he wasn't what she needed to focus on right now. The others were waiting for her to start the surgery, X-rays had already been performed, there weren't any broken bones, which was a good sign. The real assessment began when Emma started opening the wounds and extracting the bullets out. In cases like these, Emma never knew what the reason for the injuries were, she was there to save the patient, and not investigate.
From what Emma could see however was that the unnamed patient was in her mid twenties, and strangely, bore a number of scars on her body. Emma was more focused on the open wounds rather than the already closed and healed ones. If she could really say healed, some of the scars looked as if they had barely scabbed or healed over time without the proper care as well as some of the others were just small circles. Could it be that this girl had suffered through more bullet wounds. If so, she might be in the police force, maybe military but if that wasn't thr case, maybe she was in a bad situation and in need of help. Emma made a mental note to ask the patient about it later, if it turned out to be nothing then fine but doctors weren’t meant to get into the personal lives of their patients, that created complications and privacy issues. But, it was never in Emma's nature to turn a blind eye from someone who was in possible danger.
As Emma worked on taking out the bullets she continued to maintain an eye on the woman's vitals. Everything was steady, the bullets were coming out nicely and surprisingly none of the bullets had hit a major organ. Now, Emma wasn't a detective by any means nor did she fill her brain with useful information about guns and crime but something was off. The woman had been shot more than once, there was a highly unlikely possibility that the person who was trying to harm her would miss their target. Everyone knew where a heart was in thr human body, even a stomach wound would have done major damage. But all the places that the gun had fired at were at places that wouldn’t have outstanding harmful effects to the body. Sure, anywhere that a person was shot at would cause substantial amount of pain and blood loss but Emma wondered if the person who had fired these shots at the girl in front of her, really knew what they were doing or she just found herself fortunate.
Emma had taken the time to look at the man who had carried the girl in. He had been injured as well, not nearly as bad but she doubted that he was the one who had caused the woman harm, especially since he had brought her to the hospital. Emma had instructed another nurse to look for a doctor to help the man out while Emma focused all her attention on the woman who was more injured.
Finally, Emma pulled out the last bullet and set it on the silver tray right next to her. She cleaned up the wound, asked for a status report from the assistants in the room with her and then finished up, double checking everything to make sure she hadn't missed a tear or additional injury. Emma instructed for the others to finish the stitches in order to close up the wound so that Dr. Tullen could go out and inform the man who she had seen earlier that the surgery had been a success.

Will knew that people would ask questions but there wasn’t an easier way to handle this. Medical attention was more important to him than a few questions he would have to face. Besides, he had done it before, faking his responses, formulatting all his answers to fit into one perfect lie.
As soon as he saw MacKenzie being wheeled off for surgery, a quick wave of relief passed through him. She was in good hands, she wouldn't die, Will knew that for sure but she would be on her way to recovery in a matter of hours.
Will noticed the man in front of him staring at him with caution as well as concern. A nurse came over and saved Will from answering the man's questions of wondering how the injuries had occured. "I am not sure, I couldn't see their faces," Will replied shortly before a wheelchair was brought to him. The nurse urged him to sit, even though it was unnecessary, Will knew that it was protocol and they wanted to make sure he didn't damage his leg any further before they could heal him.
He sat down on the wheel chair and heard a doctor from behind tell the man who had questioned Will that further investigation could be done after the patient was taken care of. So, that man was a cop no doubt, that was unfortunate, Will just had to run into a cop on his way into the hospital. There were a lot of people Will tried to avoid in life, cops were especially one of them. He was happy to be wheeled away from the man but knew that he would be there waiting for Will to answer everything he knew.
Will's wound was cleaned and taken care of properly, and he had a choice between waiting in a recovery room or in the hall of the. surgery room. Will chose the second option but all the while he was asked for the medical information from not only him but Enzi as well. He made a fake name for himself and lied that he didn't know Enzi's name, age or contact information. It was best for their identities to be kept a secret, and Will had made sure before they entered the hospital that he had hid the gun safely for future use.
The doctor that Will had seen earlier with Enzi came out of the room, a pleasant smile on her face. "We finished taking the bullets out, she will recover, the surgery was a success," she said, words that were comforting to hear. Will understood that the doctor wanted for them to stay at the hospital in order to give Enzi her proper aftercare but that wouldn't be possible. Will knew that once he walked out of this area, that cop would be there waiting to uncover everything. "Thank you Doctor," Will replied with sincere gratitude and now that the coast was clear, he made his way to the room that Enzi would be sent to afterwards.
Thankfully, no one was waiting for him in the room and Will sat on a single chair by an empty space where the bed would come rolling in and be placed at. Will clasped his hands together and thought carefully, their predicament was a tight one. It would be hard to talk his way out of this one, there obviously had to be the person who shot the gun that they would be asking for. They would ask what happened, why it happened and who did it. They had to get out of here, as soon as Enzi came in, Will had to escape this hospital with her and even before he had come into this room, he had already put that plan in motion.
--------------
Emma walked alongside the hospital bed that the unnamed female patient layed in. Her bag of IVs connected to the moveable bed allowed for easy transportation and finally they all made it to the room that she was to stay in for the time being. The man in the room got up from his chair as soon as the door opened, his face when he saw the girl resembled emotions too deep to come from a stranger who had come across an injured woman.
The two assistants moved the bed into place as Emma hooked up the necessary equipment to make sure everything was functioning properly. "So, I take it that you are going to be claimed as the temporary guardian of this girl," Emma said as soon as she finished checking the monitors and IV tube. The man nodded in reply and sputtered out that he would only be here for a short time. He seemed tired and a bit overwhelmed, the stutter in his voice helped Emma calm down and think that this man was just trying to be a good citizen. Emma walked over to the other side of the bed and checked a wire at the bottom of the bed, he back faced the other man who had given his name as Jeffrey. "It's a good thing you brought her to this hospital, I hope you are doing well, do you feel pain in your leg still," she asked, getting up to turn around and face him.
Before she could turn around however an arm wrapped around her neck, her body pressed up against another behind her. She felt the grip tighten around her, it was getting harder to catch her breath. Emma tried to squirm, she tried to call for help but it was too late, she could feel her mind growing clouded, her strength beginning to fail her. Was she about to be killed? What had she done wrong? These last two thoughts raced to her head, the final thoughts she had before fall unconscious on the hospital room floor.

The room was well kept, the hospital bed was close to the large window that showed a rather pleasant view of the now night sky, at the bottom of it was a large couch that was attached to the wall. It wasn't the comfiest piece of furniture but it made due when family came to visit. In Officer Jack's case however, it looked like Attican was the only family that would be visiting him today. A smile appeared on Emma's face as she saw the relief wash over Attican when he saw Jack in one piece and doing well after the surgery.
She wasn't fully aware of what policeman had to do in their job. From what she experienced however, from the many police officers who had come in and the majority of the time out of the hospital, their job heavily consisted being in the line of fire. This was no different, and a sense of pity filled her as she wished that men and women who worked to protect the city didn't have to risk their lives. But, she knew that without them, everyone would have to fend for themselves in a world where everyone could be your enemy. Emma closed her eyes for a moment, knowing that a world of peace was something far-fetched and that she should stop wishing.
"I'm sure that Officer Jack wouldn't be here alive, if it weren't for you being with him at that moment as well as taking him to the hospital," Emma tried to console Attican but she didn't want to overstep her boundaries so she stopped with that sentence. But, she believed that if Jack had come in a few hours later, than she wouldn't have been able to save him. She remembered the ambulance pulling up as soon as dusk fell, if she calculated just right, the twenty minutes it took to get to the time of injury to the operation room was just enough to make sure his blood hadn't clogged up any important arteries.
She looked over at the screen that showed the patient's vitals and noted that everything was looking well. "He will wake up soon if you'd like to stay with him for the time being," Emma proceeded to tell Attican all of necessary steps that needed to be taken from this point on. As she was doing so two nurses came into the room, they were there to perform another check up, these would be frequent in order to make sure that his condition remained stable and until Jack was fully awake. "Let's leave the room for now so that they may perform their work," Emma gave Attican a reassuring smile, assuring him that he was in good hands.
Emma closed the door softly behind them as they walked out of the recovery room. "Right now is a critical stage, he looks like he will wake up soon but we have to make sure his condition is well looked after until that time. Well, Officer, it was a pleasure talking to you, if you have any further questions you can contact the nurse to ring me up. I have another appointment that I need to head downstairs for, it is a woman that is having back pain." Emma scolded herself inside, feeling rather silly for explaining her reasons for leaving to him. She was a doctor, she was free to come and go as she pleased, she didn't have to give Attican valid proof that she needed to go and couldn't stay longer. She checked her watch on her wrist, noticing the time and suddenly splurted out some words that she wished that she took back right when she said them. "I will be off my work shift in thirty minutes if you want to grab a bite to eat in the cafeteria on the first floor. You may want to eat something, it looks like you haven't had anything since you brought him in earlier." Emma wanted to hit her lips a couple of times, what was she doing, asking him out on a dinner date in a moment like this. No, she reminded herself, she wasn't asking him out, she was advising him to eat for the sake of good health. Come on Emma, who are you kidding, you are obviously attracted to the man.
Emma swallowed, punching the button of the elevator to go down so she could escape this reality. The doors slid open as it reached their floor and her heels clacked into the cube, turning around to wave goodbye to Attican. But when she turned around, Attican wasn't at the entrance to the elevator but rather he had stepped in with her and was standing beside her. The doors closed and she reacted by clicking the button to head down to the main floor. She pressed her lips together, wondering if she should make more small talk, maybe a slight tease or should she throw out more medical information. It was a short ride down and the doors slid open again, but when they did something caught Emma's attention that was more important than anything else in the moment.
Right at the front of the hospital's lobby she saw a man holding a woman, both of them covered in stained blood. She saw the look of distress before they even said anything and she rushed to their side, shouting order to the receptionist to call up the staff in her department. As soon as she reached the man she saw that she needed to first take care of the woman in his arms first before she took care of him. Priorities, who was injured the most, who could you save and what needed to be done in order to help those in need. "I'm going to need a room open for operation, bullet wounds to the shoulder, and hip," Emma looked closely at the open wounds, blood covering her hands and her blouse, she knew what needed to be done and she would take care of it, this woman would survive.

Will studied the knife that landed close to him for only a second before using his foot to drag it closer to the bottom of the steel bar his hands had been tied to. He slid his hands down, grabbing the knife, turning it around so that it pointed directly at the rope and he started working at it so that he could free himself. He knew he had to act quickly, Enzi was already making her way up the ladder and out of his reach. Damn it all, he wasn't about to lose her again without talking more to her in the very least. If she wouldn't accept his help willingly then he would just force her to oblige.
She did give him the knife to free himself, she had a gun, she could have used it against him. But, despite Enzi's upfront image of appearing strong and independent, he knew that having lost the family that meant so much to her, she must be feeling empty and alone. She was on the run, a fugitive that could never rest, never go back to living a normal life. Her days were filled with hiding, making sure she hid from security cameras, avoiding any suspicious eyes by whichever means necessary. Will knew that in Enzi's heart that she feared trusting others, trust led to relationships and once that formed, there was a fear to losing them or being betrayed. Betrayed. That's what she felt from him now.
Will looked up to the ladder, and barely caught a glance of Enzi before she disappeared out of his sight. "Wait!" He tried calling out to her. She didn't have to be sorry, she didn't need to apologize for anything. Will knew what he was getting into the moment he accepted the first mission from the corporation. He knew what would happen when he first started pulling the trigger of a gun. He knew, from the moment that he entered into Enzi's life that he had found something, no, someone that he didn't want to lose. He had already failed at protecting what was important to him, Commander Harth and Enzi's mother, he wasn't about to lose Enzi as well.
She wanted to hurt him, she had warned him, it was a threat to say the least. For sure, if Will didn't know any better he would walk into the end barrel of her gun, waiting to see if she would pull the trigger. He knew what she was capable of, she was the Commander's daughter after all but not only that, Enzi had a mind that once it was made up, she didn't falter. Nothing would make her falter, she would pull that trigger, she couldn't take anymore chances after everything she has been through.
Will got the ropes off of him, and hurried after Enzi, each step he took up the stairs made the bullet wound that was still in his leg sting with pain. It was barely noticeable to Will as he made his way up, he saw that the manhole was covered, but he hoped that Enzi couldn't be far away from him. Then a loud strike of sound shot through the air, with the ringing in Will's ear that accompanied it, he knew what that sound meant.
Will's eyes widened, his stomach dropped, and he climbed out of the manhole faster. Once he reached the top he shoved the steel cover out of his way and climbed out of the hole. He looked up to see the man that he had been sent on this mission with holding a gun straight up, pointed directly at Enzi, another bullet had been fired from the gun. He watched, trying not to let the shock overwhelm him from seeing Enzi slump down to the floor, her body becoming limp as she blacked out.
He wanted nothing more than to run to her at that moment, hold her in his arms and take her to a hospital. But, there was one thing that he had to do first. Will breathed in slowly and deeply, the exhale coming out a bit shaky, then, the tense feeling in his muscles completely disappeared. Will looked up at the man who accompanied him, "I heard that there were two people seen running into the tunnel of the subway station, I figured it was you and that girl, so I scouted out here just in case. Looks like I was right in thinking that way, I-" As the man spoke Will had walked up to him, grabbing the gun that Enzi had stored in the back of her belt and shot him in point blank sight.
Will didn't blink when the shot was fired, he saw the man's pupils dilate as soon as the bullet had pierced his heart. It was what Will had been trained to do, and in fact, what he had been doing these past two years, there was no remorse, or even a slight hesitation. Will had not given the man time to react or even see Will's intentions. And nor would anyone else think that Will had shot him, he already had it planned out that he would blame the man's death on Enzi. That was when and if he ever got back to the base, for now he had to take care of Enzi first. Will put away the gun, turning away from the man on the floor and ran to Enzi who was unconscious a few feet away from him.
He saw the bullet wounds to her shoulder and another to her right hip, the blood was coming out but not rapidly. Will had time to take her to a hospital, she would live, the organization had ordered them to harm her if necessary but they needed her to live, but only if she received care in proper time. Will lifted Enzi off of the ground, one arm supported her shoulders as the other held her legs. "Stay with me Enzi, I'm not losing you." Her head leaned up against Will's chest as he walked toward the nearest hospital, all the while feeling the warm trickle of blood on his chest that was escaping her wounds.
