139969 So, the year 2015 has had some time to kick in. Goodreads started their annual Reading Challenge. How many books did you put in as your goal?

This year I'm only attempting 25. Last time I participated (2013 I think) I tried to read 50 books. That's almost one book per week, which I thought was realistic and achievable. But I'm reading so little these days that I couldn't quite make it to that number. This year promises to be even busier so I just straight up halved the previous goal. So 25 it is!

How about you guys?

139969 I used to read a whole book before starting another but nowadays I seem to have switched to many books at once. Right now I have maybe 5 books in progress. They don't have any specific roles though. I just continue to read the book that I feel like at any given moment.

Though I do tend to favour short stories when waiting at the laundromat :D

139969 Oh yeah, I read mostly sci-fi that is kinda... well, simpler. It's good if it doesn't go too much to how stuff is supposed to work because the science just goes way over my head. Story over technology.

139969 So, what are the genres you find yourselves with most often?

I try to read all kinds of books but I always keep coming back to fantasy, horror and historical novels.

With comics I tend to read a lot of fantasy, sci-fi, alt history, anthro, super heroes and slice of life.

139969 I think I'm half and half. I do own lots of books but I'm also graduating as a librarian soon and have been working in libraries for a few years. And since my parents didn't really buy us books I've had to rely on libraries since early age so they feel like a very familiar and natural place for me to get books.

There's just this problem that I haven't catalogued books that I've read books before goodreads, just owned books. Library books haven't thus found their way to my collection before I joined, so there's a lot to remember and huge holes in my reading history.
