I do the same, resulting a TBR list I will NEVER finish.

Those are new this year, kind of cheesy if you ask me. Click on one and you get confetti, yay, LOL!

140069 I always set a number for the challenge but don't always meet it. This year I got into a slump in June, as usual, but it lasted much longer this year. I can't wait for cold weather, to hunker down and do some cozy reading. Here's my page, I don't think I'll make it.

140069 Where did the summer go? Apparently August was such a blur I missed it completely. They say the older we get the faster time flies and I believe it.

Do you participate in the GR yearly challenge? If so, how's it going? Only 4 months left! Feel free to post a link to your challenge page!

Oh Barb, me too! It happens every summer but this year seems it started earlier. My GR challenge says I'm 9 books behind schedule.

140069 I can't remember when the internet barged into my life and stopped me reading books. I just remember a wasteland of time, and probably just daily life, when I didn't even pick up a book.

I was someone who always had a book in progress, more than one, so when I finally realized I was starving for books, I bought one that was popular at the time, even though I owned shelves full of my favorites from the past.

That popular book was a non-fiction, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks . 5 stars. I liked it because it read like fiction. That's the kind of non-fiction I like. I think most folks do. Who likes dry non-fiction with lots of statistics? That's why A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail got 2 stars from me, the stats got in the way of the comedy.

As for topics, I will go for almost any topic, but unless the writing keeps me reading, I will not continue. Right now I'm reading a memoir.

My thoughts exactly. I gave it 2 stars and wrote "98% English village life, 2% romance. Boring, but not boring enough for me to abandon."
I read it in 2018.

140069 FYI, I made a children's and YA bookshelf for the group just to consolidate what has already been read in the past (but that doesn't mean re-reads can't happen!)

Let me know if I missed any.

140069 I love retro YA! I wish I could do buddy/group reads but the SR in my name means Slow Reader and I just can't. But I love this thread and will no doubt get great recs and discussions about whatever you guys read.

140069 I logged out of GR over night and shut down my laptop, too. It seemed to have worked because I have my notifications back!

140069 When it comes to your owned books, how organized are you?
Stacks on the floor? Nicely shelved according to genre or author? How many rooms are your books inhabiting?

Me? My bedroom is small but I have a walk-in closet with more books than clothes. Totally unorganized, some on the floor, some in boxes, I could go on but you get the picture! The living room has a small bookcase with coffee table books and an old encyclopedia from my childhood nicely displayed.

140069 Just letting folks know, I'm not getting ANY notifications.

I only ever got notifications on my laptop, never email, never on any app. Laptop only with no problems for years. Sadness.
