The full-length documentary "He Named me Malala" is pretty interesting as well, available on Hulu

144784 Came across a short interview the author gave in the New Yorker:

144784 Apparently there might be a BBC adaptation in 2018 - that would be cool to see

144784 Has the group already done The Stars My Destination in previous years?

144784 I will definitely check that movie out!

144784 That's funny you mention Brazil - where De Niro literally gets covered in papers and then disappears - the lethal form of red tape.

I was definitely confused about that leap that Genly made at the end about the brothers and wasn't sure if I had missed something. The ending sure leaves a lot of unanswered questions, but I kinda like that too.

144784 It might be that Ernest Cline's 2nd book recently came out (Armada) and Spielberg is going to make the Ready Player One movie (due out in 2017). I just finished Armada and it was okay but not as compelling as Ready Player One. It might make a good movie though.

I also really enjoyed The Martian. Haven't checked out Seveneves but I am intrigued!

144784 It's definitely a long one - the audiobook was 17 hours!

I think the author might have had a case of first-novel-itis which led to too much digressions and over-descriptions (show don't tell!). Also too many metaphors!

I mean... "the muscles in his jaw flickering like a silk gown riffled by the breeze of a heating vent"
