Ashlee - that is a good question. I think Kennedy thought Ruth deserved more than 10 seconds because Ruth was in shock when it her turn to have Kennedy speak on her behalf. Also I get SO angry every time Adisha opens her mouth though. Here is an UNPAID attorney trying to tell her how to help her sister and all she can do it stoke the fire. The one question that lingers with me is: WHY did Kennedy say "No Im sorry", when Ruths son apologized for his Aunts behavior? Was she sorry she couldn't do more? Was she sorry this was about race? Was she sorry the court system leaves something to be desired? I an interested to hear what you all thought when you read that part too!

Chelsea - I thought the same things! What a sweet and creative proposal. They really did love each other from first sight. But their hatred for others (not like them) runs SO deep. I feel almost self conscience reading some of the thoughts coming from Turk because he is so angry and filled with such violent urges. This novel is the epitome of a thought provoking novel. How did Turks upbringing help bring out his behavior and same with Ruth?
1532 I got my book and ready for the read along! Can't wait for the discussions to come and thanks Rachael for getting everything organized :)

1532 Hey folks,

Is anyone going to the signing in L.A. at The Grove? I went last year and it was PACKED. I got my book signed and a photo with Jodi. I even asked her a question during the Q&A session! But the line took forever, I think this time I will try and get there a bit earlier.

ALSO I would like to congratulate all the group members for making this such a successful group! I think when I joined last year around this time, there were less than 70 members. NOW look at us! Jodi would be so proud! I will try and mention her loyal readers when I see her next friday. Read her interview recently posted here on goodreads!

1532 Lauren I wish I had known you were going. I was there too! Jodi was very sweet and oddly enough I had heard most of the things she spoke about from reading interviews. But she was genuinely open and excited for all question from her fans. What did you like best about the signing? (obviously not the wait to get the book signed!)

1532 If you shop at an independent book store, ask if they are a member of "Book Sense". In their March publication Jodi Picoult is on the cover with an interview with her inside! Also good new for Jodi, her newest book "Change of Heart" hit number 1 on the New York times best sellers list for Sunday March 23!!! (Yes I have an inside scoop). YEAH for Jodi!!

1532 I didnt love it. Probably because it seemed to go round in a circle. Everything At the beginning was retold at the end just from a different persons perspective. I enjoy the novels Picoult does from several points of view, but this particular plot didnt seem to go anywhere. I think it was Picoult first novel. Right?

1532 lauren and kathy,
you only need the first half (songs of the humpback whale) because the story basically retells itself. Perhaps it was one half about the guys story and the other half from girls. You didnt miss much. I had a hard time getting through it.

1532 The first book of hers I read and is still my favorite was "the pact". I enjoyed it because though I am older than the characters in the book, I was amazed at how mature and developed they were. I think many parents and readers take for granted the maturity of teens and Jodi gives them due credit in all her novels.
