Thank you. After 40 years I'm ready. I especially look forward to staying in bed in the morning when a snow storm hits overnight.

50x66 It's been a busy month for me. Between the holidays, Painting with a Twist, and retiring today I haven't been able to get into the group much this month. Okay, not at all. Next month will, I hope, be different. Hope to see you all in the new group I'll be setting up tonight for 2016.

I've been reading a lot of children's books. I wanted to make sure what I bought for my sister's grandchildren were age appropriate since they are all under 5. Only one was not age appropriate so, needless to say, that one stayed here until they get older.

50x66 It's been busy and I've been reading but haven't been online much this month. Mom's moved but I'm still cleaning my house and trying to create order out of chaos. I have to finish since I'm halfway through. I'll be getting December's challenge up tonight.

I like Annie Proulx but she is not a cheerful, uplifting writer. Her books are gritty.

I loved The Man Who Loved Books Too Much. I had the opportunity to meet the author when she did the book tour when the book came out. Fascinating read!

50x66 Wow! Where did October go? Now we're back to standard time and it's dark morning and night. I've been house cleaning with little time for reading or the computer. I don't like that but it is necessary. So onto November and hopefully more reading.

1. Read a book whose author's last name begins with I.
2. Read a book about gratitude.
3. Read a book by an author who has your last name.
4. Read a book that won any award.
5. Read a book about current events.

50x66 I haven't been on the computer much this month. I've been housecleaning since my mom moved and I need to clean out stuff to get some of her furniture. Since I started I need to finish the whole house. It's bad!!!!!

I did read some good books that past few weeks though. Fledling by Octavia Butler was a good vampire story. It had the makings of a trilogy at least but, unfortunately, she died a year after publication. Lots of unanswered questions. I also read a YA story based on the urban myth of the Jersey Devil. I enjoyed the way it was written but the last chapter and a half were weak. I was so let down with the ending. I'm all ready to be scared and bam! not scary. I was disappointed because I don't read books within the horror genre much.

I did read one book that I do not recommend at all: Mr. Muo's Traveling Couch. It was very disjointed with a vaguely followed plot. The back cover says how funny it is but I found no humor in it. I was more like, Huh? Maybe it's funny in it's original language but it lost something in translation.

50x66 If you like cozy mysteries, Donna Andrews' The Good, the Bad, and the Emus was a fun read. It's part of her Meg Langstown Mystery series but you can read it as a standalone. I enjoyed it. I thought the mystery was done well. The characters were good.

Welcome to the dark side. We all succumb eventually. Plus there are a lot of freebies available on e-books and some stories will never be printed and they turn out to be good.
