"We'll be seeing each other again, John. Soon."
John shivered.

The sea air greeted him like wings above the dark waters. On a cascade of blue light and magic energy, he descended to the sea, halting inches above its surface. He hovered for a moment, and then Rafe propelled himself across the ocean’s surface towards his sister. He skimmed the surface, sending a spray of water in his wake, and came to a stop five feet from his sister. He drifted upward until they were both the same height over the water.
“Your madness ends here, sister. No more mortals die. No more souls will be devoured. We end this.”
“So brave. So brave. But no match, no match. Did you forget?”
Rafe smiled. “No. But you may be surprised this time.”
“Tricks or clever words? No matter.” She spun around with a laugh. “It’s you or me, little brother. You and me. Always been. Always been. Yes, yes. One or the other. You or me.” In an instant, her glee turned to a roar, a strident shriek of hopeless perception and pain-fuelled rage. White hot incandescence filled the sky and the space between them, churning the sea below their feet.
“You or me! At the end!” The furious energy burst forward, hurtling towards Rafe like a hurricane.

This is from the story The Midnight Man
The sky hung above the earth in colours of soft petal pink with sharp streaks of burnt coral and auburn. The final rays of sunshine flirted with the oncoming dusk, and faded its goodbye in cheeky undertones of amber.
A crow cawed. Once, then twice more.
The air shivered, rent with a tinge of rain, and the smell of ozone in the wake of a storm. The dead autumn grass rustled, and its edges bent at the rim of the woods. A cold, grey fog swirled sweet and thick as wool across the field, carrying a silhouette in its velvet kiss.
A figure stepped out of the mists.
Tall and gangly, all angles and crisp bits, dressed in a long black coat and a top hat. Above him more crows gathered, fluttering around him in flight, until one settled, perching on his spindly arm. A thin, boney finger caressed the sooty feathers on its head.
As if such a thing happened every evening.
Across the meadow, huddled in a hummock, tucked away from view among the dormant grass, two children—age thirteen—spied on this strange tableau.
“I knew he was real! I knew it!” His emphatic, but low voice spit the words as Sid turned to his friend. “Can you see him?” he whispered, the frame of his question a cracked spider web of terror and excitement.

Well, Blackthorne is actually inspired by Ioan Gruffudd's portrayal as Horatio Hornblower, though he's probably a bit old to play him these days.
I think Tom Hiddleston would be a good Captain Morrow, and Eddie Redmayne would be great as Mouse. Sean Bean would be good as Striker Angus and Simon Pegg as Pinky. Liam Cunningham might be good as One-eyed Anders.

And your characters made the semi-finals of the Horror/Thriller character tournament.

Did you know:
* King Mithridates VI of Greece tried to kill himself via poisoning but failed because he ..."
I love these poison facts.

The series was inspired by Greek mythology and tales of ghosts ships.

John stared at empty space.
Behind him Acara's voice echoed, "An astral projection. He's getting stronger. Soon he will be able to summon his Hell followers to this mortal realm to conquer the world. You need to make a decision. Fight him or join him."
