Hi! I'm Katherine. I felt like the first half of ACOTAR was very slow and drudgey, but it really picked up toward the end and I ended up liking it based on that last section. I believe I read somewhere that Sarah J. Maas wrote ACOTAR earlier than the Throne of Glass books, so I'm hoping the poor pacing was due more to first novel syndrome than anything else. I wasn't crazy about the main love interest (I've actually forgotten his name :) ) but I'm more in it for the fantasy elements (i.e. evil fairies) anyway.
