Chapter Twenty-Two

Deacon calls Frankie and tells her to get ready because he’ll be at the house in a few and that Reggie and Trent can stay home. Reggie isn’t happy about this but Deacon placates him by telling him he’ll text him the location. On their way, after some back and forth about surprises, Deacon tells her that they are going to the Forest Preserves.

What were your thoughts on Chapter Twenty-Two?
Were you happy to see Deacon and Franke together, not fighting, and going out in a surprise date?

Chapter Twenty-One

Deacon’s POV

Deacon follows after Frankie after talking with Mav and runs into Sonny at the gym before he gets to her. He tells Deacon to fix the situation, that she doesn’t deserve it.

Deacon enters the studio and watches Frankie finish her dance. After her dance the talk, argue and then she forgives him about the Brazilians. She tells him she wants to feel what it’s like to love him and for him to love her and for him to promise her.

What were your thoughts in Chapter Twenty-One?
When Deacon was watching Frankie dance, could you tell how much he loved her?
Were you surprised with how easily Frankie dropped the issue with the Brazilians?

Chapter Twenty

Frankie’s POV

Frankie walks in on Deacon talking to Carter and she suspects he is hiding something from her. She asks him to tell her what it is and he shows her the pictures and letters. As they are fighting Deacon’s phone goes off and Frankie pics it up and it’s a picture of him with two girls in Brazil. She asks him if the promise ring he gave her was real or just because it was because she was pregnant. Just before she walks out on him, she tells Deacon that love shouldn’t hurt so much and it’s not the kind she wants.

What were your thoughts in Chapter Twenty?
Did their fight hurt your heart?
Do you think he gave her the ring just because she was pregnant?

Chapter Nineteen
Frankie and the guys are in Frankie’s meeting room when Cristiano shows up and gives Frankie a picture of her and Deacon at home. Deacon immediately pushes Cristiano up against the wall while Sonny tells Indie to take Frankie in to his office and call the cops. Cristiano tells them that a man who acted like he knew Frankie and about them asked him to give envelope to Frankie. He ask Cristiano why he’s still there since Frankie told him to leave a long time ago, that Frankie and the baby were his. The Detectives come and he tell them the same story and they take him away.

What were your thoughts on Chapter Nineteen?
Were you surprised that Cristiano was still there?

Chapter Eighteen

Deacon has a meeting at EWF to find out whether he gets to fight or not. Before they go in to the meeting, his brothers are making fun of his tie. After three hours they are headed back out to the car and Deacon feels the weight list off his shoulders and he texts Frankie to let her know that everything is good. He’s about to tell Sonny, who is talking to Mav about his training, that he’s wouldn’t want to win a fight with anyone else when Frankie texts back that she’ll be waiting and to bring the tie.

What were your thoughts on Chapter Eighteen?
Did you have any doubts that Deacon would be allowed to fight?

Chapter Seventeen

Deacon is worried about Frankie while he is training because her nightmares have been more frequent. He takes a break to talk to Frankie when she shows up and he can tell she’s been crying. She tells him that Andrew is dead and that she needs to leave to protect him. Deacon tells her that if she goes, he goes and that there is nothing more important than her and the baby.

What were your thoughts on Chapter Seventeen?
Were you surprised with Andrew’s death?

Chapter Sixteen

Frankie comes out of the locker room ready for the photo shoot. Derek arrives to gives Deacon hell about his girlfriend slapping Veronica until Frankie apologizes and he realizes she is the girlfriend. After a few more questions to Deacon, he tells Caz to find a way to spin it though Guy tearing his head off.

It’s Deacon’s birthday. Sexy anal times!

What were your thoughts in Chapter Sixteen?
Where you surprised by Derek’s shock at finding out Frankie was the pregnant girlfriend?

Chapter Fifteen

Deacon goes with Frankie to her doctor’s visit. They get a check up on the baby and get to hear the baby’s heartbeat for the first time

After the visit, they head over to the EWF offices since Mav called and told Deacon that they wanted to do a photo shoot. When Deacon hears the Cage girls and Veronica show up, he refuses to pose with them. When Veronica starts attacking Frankie about the baby, telling her it’s not Deacon’s and she should get an abortion, Frankie slaps her and tells her to never talk about the baby again before she takes off to the locker room. Deacon goes to check on her and when Mav comes is to check on them both, Deacon tells him that he will only pose with Frankie for the rest of the photo shoot or else he will pose alone. Frankie agrees and Mav goes to tell the photographer the change in the plan.

What were your thoughts on Chapter Fifteen?

Chapter Fourteen

Indie comes over on the pretense of asking Deacon if he has Frankie’s gift and whether he has directions to tonight’s dinner. Then she congratulates him on the baby and they have their usual banter.

At dinner Indie apologizes for her behavior and they talk about everything from hockey to the baby. Indie thanks everyone for coming to Frankie and Deacon’s birthday celebration. Deacon gives Frankie a tiara ring and tells her it’s a promise to her.

What were your thoughts on Chapter Fourteen?

Chapter Thirteen

Deacon hasn’t seen Frankie much in the last week because of their schedules, so he text her to come down to the basement if she is still around. And sexy times in the cage.

What were your thoughts on Chapter Thirteen?

Chapter Twelve

After a brief meeting with Reggie about pics he intercepted and a conference call with EWF, Deacon heads home to find Frankie cooking dinner for them. They talk and she asks him what happened in California, why didn’t he call, did he sleep with anyone? He explained why he was so angry that she wanted to see Andrew and that he didn’t sleep with anyone else, he only wanted her. As Deacon is getting ready to drag Frankie upstairs, they are interrupted by Sonny calling out to them. Sonny had dinner with them and Deacon senses that he’s acting strangely but doesn’t know what’s going on with him. After Deacon finally gets rid of Sonny, he sees how tired Frankie is and heads up to bed.

What were your thoughts on Chapter Twelve?
Why do you think Sonny was acting strangely?
Did you love that Deacon told himself that he was going to “wife the f**k” out of Frankie?

Chapter Eleven

Ahh! Lots going on in this chapter. Deacon comes home from San Diego. After a conversation with his brother in the ride home, including some cryptic comments from Sonny about love, Deacon is dropped off at home. Reggie tells him that Cristiano has been around the studio and stuff, but Indie was the only one at the house. He checks on Frankie before crashing since he has to be up early for gym time.

As Deacon is working out he hears smells and hears Frankie coming up to them. She tells them that she’s going to Spain with Cristiano because it’s not safe. The men after her tried to kill Andrew. We find out that Frankie is pregnant and Deacon immediately says it’s not Cristiano’s, who tried to deny that fact. Frankie tells him to go home to Spain. That she shouldn’t have let him stay as long as she did.

After they give him and Frankie some privacy, we see Deacon’s reaction to the news about being a dad.

Chapter Ten

After Deacon apologizes to his sparring partner for putting him in an arm bar. He tells Leo he was in his head and he was done for the day. He tells him how he’s still mad at Frankie but wants nothing more to hear her voice. That she calms the chaos. Leo tells him that he has to make a decision. He tells Leo that he doesn’t want to call it quits with her, but he just doesn’t want to be near her right now.

Twelve days after leaving Frankie, Deacon is missing her. She still texts every day but not as frequently. His buddies send Jodi up to tell him that they want him to meet them at the Sandbox after they can’t get a hold of him. The tease him about his pink shirt and we get to meet Tommy, who Deacon doesn’t know, but Tommy knows him. (This may be the funnies scene in the book when he realizes who Deacon is!) After way too many drinks a chick tries to pick up Deacon. Since that’s not who he is anymore, he abruptly stands to leave to get back to his girl.

What were your thoughts on Chapter Ten?

Chapter Nine

Deacon comes in to his house at 1am and tries not to wake Frankie when he hears her say that she didn’t think he was coming home. When he tells her he is going to California a couple days early for to get some training in with his buddies on base before his EWF meeting. Frankie asks him if she can go with him. He tells her not this time. That she can go see Drew and he’ll be back soon. She tells him to just admit that that he’s angry and Deacon tells her to just stop. That she almost died and he wants to tell him why she wants to see Andrew, to just explain it to him and he leaves without waiting for her answer because he’s so angry.

After five days in San Diego, Deacon is ready to be home since his mood hasn’t improved at all. Frankie has texted and Deacon is responding but not giving her much. As he heads downstairs, he runs into Leo, his friend from his Marine days. He talks with him while he stretches and then he starts training with the sparring partners his brothers have lined up. Stick and move!

What were your thought on Chapter Nine?
Did you expect Deacon to leave Frankie behind while he went to California?

Chapter Eight

Deacon and Sonny walk out of the weight room to find Frankie talking to the two marshals who were at her house with Andrew. Deacon realizes that they told her that Andrew isn’t the one who attacked her and she wasn’t happy that Deacon hadn’t told her. Frankie tells them that she wants to see Andrew after they are done talking to them and Deacon isn’t happy. The marshals tell him that charges aren’t being pressed against him by them or Andrew and that they are there to offer their protection to Frankie.

When Deacon says that Andrew left her at the house while he saved himself, Frankie tries to defend him, Deacon interrupts her and tells her that she’d better not defend him when he left her there. That he may not have laid his hand on her, but he’s the reason she got hurt and every day he sat by her in the hospital, Deacon prayed for her not to be taken from him. Sonny tells him to go shower and they will deal with it later.

Frankie comes to find him in the locker room to apologize for defending Andrew. Then she asks him why he didn’t tell her that she wasn’t safe, because she thought she was. Deacon tells her he was afraid that she would go back to Andrew. Frankie tells him that she was leaving Andrew that night and asks Deacon didn’t he know how much she loved him them and still loves him now and how he could think so little of his feeling. She tells him that their need to take it slow is real and Deacon tells her that he needs a break and Frankie leaves with a defeated expression while Deacon deals with the fact that a part of him doesn’t want to go after her.

What where your thoughts on Chapter Eight?
Do you think Deacon should have kept the information from Frankie about Andrew not being the one who attacked her?
Do you think Deacon was justified in telling Frankie that she should not be defending Andrew to him?

Chapter Seven

After a week at his place, Frankie’s done nothing but sleep while Deacon trains. Tonight he’s taking the night off from training to have dinner with Frankie, just the two of them. He goes to the studio and watch Frankie dance with a different partner while Cristiano pouts in the corner. When he notices Frankie watching him, he knows she’s saying that she only sees him. Deacon watches her finish the dance out and then tells her he’s taking her home after the class is done.

Once home, Deacon is in the kitchen getting stuff ready for dinner while he waits for Frankie to get out of the shower. When she comes in playing “Waiting Game” and Deacon tells her it’s porn music. He then asks her who she was dancing with today. She tells her it was Roman and they bounce choreography ideas off each other. He tells her that her watching him while she danced with Roman made him hot.
After their conversation leads to sexy teams, Deacon starts to take Frankie to bed. She tells him that they can’t keep doing this because they aren’t resolving anything. She tells Deacon he has the power to shatter her because she loves him so much and she asks him to take things slow. He tells her that he will take it slow but that he will no longer share her with Cristiano.

What were your thoughts on Chapter Seven?
Do you think Deacon is capable of taking things slowly where Frankie is concerned?

Chapter Six

Deacon and Frankie pack her up and get ready to move her over to Deacon’s place. He overhears her talking to Cristiano, who wants Frankie to stay with him, and she tells him it’s none of his business where she stays. When Deacon asks her where she wants to go, she tells him that she knows where she needs and wants to be and she lets him know that she’s ready to go. As they leave he notices her charm bracelet and when Deacon asks where she got it, she tells him that Andrew gave it to her for her birthday and it was all she had of her and her mom, talking about the key chain locket with the picture of them.

After they get back to Frankie’s house and she goes to take a nap, Deacon goes to talk to the guys about what happened and how Drew was able to get his hand on her. After he gets their explanation, Deacon asks Reggie and Sonny if they knew about the letters and phone calls and they say no. Then Reggie tells him that it’s more serious that Frankie is letting on and shows Deacon the letter that was in the mail while they were packing up her stuff. He tells them that Frankie is never to be left alone, whether they are here or at the gym over the next few months.

What were your thoughts on Chapter Six?
Do you think the charm will have a special significance later on in the story?

Chapter Five

Deacon wakes up at midnight and when he hears a soft knock on the door, he opens it to find Mav checking on them and letting him know that he just dropped their dad at home. As they head down to the kitchen Mav fills him on what’s going on with the EWF and that no one wants to leave him or Frankie alone. Deacon starts to make something to eat and tells Mav he’s going to wake Frankie up. Frankie meets him on the stairs as he heads up. As she reaches the bottom, Deacon pulls her to him and Frankie starts crying and feeling overwhelmed about everything that happened. When she asks if they can talk about last night, because the detectives wouldn’t tell her anything except that he was fine, Deacon tells her they will talk about it later.

As they are eating, Deacon asks Frankie how long she’s been receiving stuff from him and she tells him since right after she got attacked. Deacon. Is. PISSED.

After Deacon knocks everything off the counter and Mav leaves the room, Deacon picks up Frankie from where she is sobbing and carries her in to his study. Once she calms down he asks her why she kept this from him. Frankie tells him that she felt safe when they were together and when they weren’t she was afraid of it interfering with his matches and that if she told the other guys, they would have told him, too. Deacon tells her that nothing would ever come between them and to not keep stuff from him. She tells him okay and that she’s tired. He tells her the rest cam wait and then he tells himself that tomorrow he’ll break the news to her.

The next morning Deacon tells Frankie and Indie that they are moving in with him because her place isn’t safe enough. Indie protests and Mav says she can stay with him. They both agree.
