182574 I tried finishing it guys, just to make the first live blog here a full, finished thing, but I can't.

I've tried opening the book again, but it's just so bad. ^^;

For anyone interested in reading something terrible, all around, pick up this book at your own risk. I can't handle it anymore, so I'm going back to books that will only hurt me emotionally haha.

182574 What's terrible is that I can't put it down, since I want to find out what happens.

182574 I'm nearly a quarter of the way through this book and thus far, this is what's happened, given away nearly entirely by the synopsis.

1. A sweet deaf boy named Spencer has fallen in love with the king of vampires, Prosper.
2. Spencer has been taken to Prosper's castle.
3. The two of them are connecting in more ways than one.

Alright, so after this point:
SPOILERS ABOUND FOR THE REST OF THIS THREAD

Saying that though, I can't really see anyone wanting to read this without knowing anything.

I am, and right now, I'm freaking out.

First off, the writing.

It's like an absolute perfect first draft, you know, the one's you manage to write at 2am when you're suddenly struck with a streak of creativity, and you post it before you decide not to.

Sometimes, that's alright, and the writing really is perfect.

This, however, could do with some more editing.

It has first draft quality through and through, the same phrases used over and over, some words missing here and there, and the sentence structure is absolutely maddening at times. I've had to read over a few sentences a few times trying to figure out just what exactly is being said.

Then there's the fact that so many things are driven into you to try and get the idea to stick.

Spencer wants Prosper.
Prosper wants Spencer.

This is said again and again in a hundred different ways, through dialogue between the two or inner monologues and it's just bothersome.

Then, there's the fact that there's no build up whatsoever, at least thus far.

They get together, they have sex, they talk about their lives, they are just all go, all drive, neither of them earns or eases anything out of the other.

It's all so quick I had to take a step back here and there just contemplating what happened and the span of time it took place in.

Speaking of contemplating.

I wasn't expecting, in any way, shape, or form, the idea that this book could involve mpreg until just this morning.

I don't have a problem with fics involving them, I've read a few before.

However, when you aren't expecting it from a published book, thinking that said book can't become any more of a wonder, and they just drop the possibility or thought in your lap?

I read the scene where Spencer and Prosper discussed it, held my kindle away from me and just, looked off into space wondering, "are they serious? Are they going to have a child? Is Spencer going to give birth?"

The thing that bothers me is that, right away, the couple joke about it, Spencer actually leaning towards wanting it to happen, blushing over the thought.

After meeting a man and after a few hours of really knowing him, sleeping with him.

And you know, that's fine! Whatever!

But Prosper, as it turns out, is some kind of third species, caught between vampire and human. He ages, he can't heal his body properly half the time, and he's managed to infect another vampire with this affliction.

Knowing that, they realize that, Spencer could, in fact, actually get pregnant. And he's just, alright with this.

Just!

What happens if you do get pregnant Spencer?
When would it even be ready to be birthed?
How is that going to work out?
How are you going to deliver a child?
Is it going to survive?
Are you going to survive?

There's just so much that could go wrong, and both of them just don't hesitate talking about trying it.

I've just gotten to the next chapter, where Prosper's sister becomes the voice of reason asking her brother what the hell he's thinking.

But I have a feeling that they're going to ignore her, or somehow, they'll gain her approval and begin the process of having a child.

I just.
What?
WHAT?

I am just reeling over it, and have been for hours now.

182574 A Royal Craving.

By some odd twist of fate, I have come across this perplexing, anomaly of a book and let me tell you, I'm having fun at the same time I just can't handle it.

I got into the book knowing it would be a M/M vampire romance. I thought that after reading two very short and sweet ones, this might be a wonderful little book as well.

Third time was not the charm. It was a curse.

Welcome to the liveblog.

182574 You know when you come across books that just, cling to you in a way, and you just want to gush about every chapter, or certain lines, but there's nowhere to really get your thoughts out?

This is what this folder is all about.

You find a book that, for better or worse, you can't stop wanting to talk about? Come talk about it here! Post whenever you want when your reading, join in on someones live blogging sessions, and just let yourself go!

I would suggest making the title of your posts here:
Title of Book. (Live/Finished)

Of course it goes without saying to just be polite with other live blogging posts, don't bash others for hating or liking certain books. Thank you! :D

182574 I think off the top of my head (or really off of my netflix queue):
Dead Poets Society
The Last Unicorn
Hook

Something about the mood of those movies gets me writing, you know? With Hook it's the wistfulness of the whole thing, and Dead Poets Society just drives me to write poetry (as cliche as that is). The Last Unicorn is an entirely different story, something about it just makes me want to create (especially since a lot of my stories are about monsters taking human form or even just interacting with humans).

Keep those movies coming guys! I love to know what fuels people to create! :D

182574 You guys make me want to read so many books and look back on ones I have. Keep em coming!

It sounds like you have some really interesting writing going on! I love how you mix in the human nature/society insight in your work. I myself involve more romances/people getting over adversity in my writing, the more mountains to climb for my characters the better haha.

It has been forever since I've watched The Last Airbender. Your fic sounds interesting, hope your having fun writing it :D

It's nice to meet you Clare. I hope to hear from you more here in the group! ^^

182574 On the top of my list of inspiring books would have to be Rainbow Rowell's, "Fangirl." Her characters are written so realistically, I can't help but cling onto every last word of her stories/books. That and, you know, it's nice having a fanfiction writer portrayed in a book that isn't some kind of trope. It's also nice to have fanfiction as a whole acknowledged for what it is to the fans.

Feel free to list as many books as you like in your post!

182574 My name is Malea, and I I dabble in anything and everything writing wise, pertaining to genre, excluding nonfiction, since my life really isn't that interesting. What can you do, right? For the most part though, I write FanFiction most of all, though I'm terrible at finishing or publishing anything that's not a short little one shot.

I pass the torch to you strangers!
It'll be nice to meet you! :D
