Thank you!! I looked at these author pages, and although I don't recognize any of the books, when I go to my local library, I can look on the shelf nearby them (I looked in my library's catalogue and there are some books by Grace Lin).

But that treehouse detail is killing me. I can't think of anything that would be remotely close."

For the treehouse - I remember it wasn't so much a treehouse in the a "Magic Treehouse" sense - it was more of a house in a tree or several trees if that makes sense? They had to climb a ladder to get in and I remember the grandmother lived with them and she climbed the ladder too.

I will try to expand, I read it so long ago I'm having trouble remembering. But I DO remember that I really enjoyed it. I'll do some brainstorming. Thank you for responding so quickly!!
185 This is a children's novel - around 150 pages or less. A young girl lives with her traditional Chinese family. She balances life in America with traditional family values. I remember distinctly that they lived in some sort of treehouse and I remember her description of the mooncakes during the Lunar New Year. I read this book around 2008. There were several similar books by the same author that all centered around a young Chinese-American girl (different girls in each book).

Further details I can remember are that the treehouse (it was a real house, but either raised in some trees, or built into a tree, not sure) had a ladder and the grandmother in the story also climbed the ladder, which was really impressive because she was elderly and it was very high up.
