Nope. That’s too new to be it, that book sounds like a good read though. The book I am thinking of was published in the early 2000s, possibly the late 90s but fairly certain it’s early 2000s

I cannot for the life of me remember the name of this book. It’s about this girl who is either kidnapped or taken hostage while spying on mystical land. Long story short she starts off as a spy but over time grows to care for the people holding her captive and at the end when the people she was spying for come to invade the land, she swaps sides.

The book cover was green and brown (or black). I probably read it between 2000-2004. If you have any idea what book this could be feel free to comment below. TIA!
