Makynna’s comments from the What's the Name of That Book??? group.

She can see the creatures, may mention something about shadows. She ends up in their mansion which goes under attack and discovers she has the strongest level of magic (may be white level?). Also, the creatures have an extremely hard time reproducing so they have a weird view on sex/relationships. On the series covers it looks like the males have marks/tattoos that glow. Read in 2012.
