185 Yes sorry! That was it, she was very pleased. Thanks everyone!
185 Ooo that might be it! She's coming back tomorrow, so I'll update if so!
185 She is probably in her mid-forties and she says she read it about 5 years ago.
185 This is for a library patron and this is all she remembers. In my search I've found nothing that matches, and she insists it's not Coraline :/
185 We had a customer come in today searching for a children's book that she read in the 70s or 80s.

She remembers that in the book a little boy dreamed about a handheld (aka tiny) hippo with wings, and when he woke up he still had it.

She also said that the book's art was watercolor and done in a fairly realistic style.

Any help would be much appreciated!
185 That’s it!!! I was wrong about the cover color, but that’s it!!! Thank you so much, I’ve been thinking about this book off and on for almost 10 years 😭😍
185 I posted maybe three years ago about this but maybe someone new will see it and know. I checked this book out from the library in the mid-2000s and it was big (over 1000 pages surely). As I said, the cover was gold/yellow toned and showed a flying sphinx over a city.

I remember that the main character was a man who was described as looking exceedingly Norwegian - long, white-blonde hair, ice blue eyes, heavily muscled.

I don't remember much about the plot except that there was also a wizard (or mage? or witch?) that lived in the swamps outside the city.

185 Ps. It should be the first image. The book has a cartoonish hand dangling a puzzle piece in its fingertips. Possibly the back cover.

This was posted on the subwaybookreview Instagram account and it's been driving me crazy! Any ideas??
185 I read this ages ago and I remember that the cover was almost all gold and depicted a city or castle and it had a lion that was possibly flying. It was a fantasy and I remember that one of the main characters was a Norwegian with ice blue eyes and white blond hair. There was a conflict of some sorts and they were going to war (??) Part of the story took place in the city and another part took place outside of the city in the swamp where there was an older man (maybe a magician). It was a fairly large (think later Harry Potter long) paperback. PLEASE HELP. Sorry this is vague, I probably read this book 10 years ago.
