Michael’s comments from the What's the Name of That Book??? group.

It was some sort of scepter and the bad guy was collecting parts for it.
And it is science fiction for teens.
And I think the bad guy had some powers, but no aliens or fantastical creatures.

The heros are teens, the villain is older. The villain is trying to put together a weapon to kill God.
The title of the sequel had the work "street" in it.
