No, it is still the discussion thread. I'm having a hard time getting the book read that's all! Feel free to continue discussing on this thread, I'm going on vacation for a few weeks, so don't worry if I don't respond for a bit.

I'm going to take another go at this during the summer. I found an edition in Kindle that is written in modern English and is easier to read. I feel like this is cheating, but I don't think that I can finish it in this century if I read it any other way. So, hopefully, I can start chatting again! Besides, Julie made me very curious with the whole gangrenous sore comment. Wonder what Gordan Ramsey would think of a cook having that nowadays?

Have you tried the Farseer trilogy or the books in the Shannarra series?
or
. I enjoyed both of those series.

Is anyone else still reading this?

How is the reading going? I seem to be stuck, but that is normal for me. Has anyone finished?

I seem to say this often, but it is amazing how fast time flies! This year is no exception. I was looking at my Goodreads challenge and it hit me that in just a few days I need to pick a new number of books to read for next year. What books from this past year has made your top picks for 2016? Were there any that you wanted to read but will have to wait until next year? This doesn't have to encompass classics, feel free to talk about any books that caught your fancy during the last year.

I agree! It was a fun read. Different that is for sure. Was it a commentary at all or just a crazy read? I like the queen and king running around yelling " Off with their heads". I loved the absurdity of the painting of the flowers, that could be a metaphor for most things in this life.

We have started Canturbury Tales which has no set time limit. It would be great to have you join us! We also just finished Alice in Wonderland if you want to join in on that one. I noticed that we talked about reading a Trollope book, but most people wanted to devote the time to reading Canturbury Tales.

This is just a crazy book. Was the author on acid or opium? Just a crazy trip into imagination/hallucination that is for sure. I just finished the chapter when Alice is running away from the puppy and now she has just met the mad hatter.

How do we want to talk about this one? Would it be better to set a date to finish two or three stories or just comment while we read? What does everyone think?

Welcome to the group Eileen! I'm looking forward to this book, although finding a adequate copy is proving to be hard.

I have my copy and ready to enter the rabbit hole!

Recommendations for a good edition or translation? I'm inundated with the choices.

This is the thread to discuss
The Canterbury Tales. This will start August 8th and will run..... I hope that you enjoy yourself and happy reading!

Canterbury Tales it is and I will put it to start next week! If you would like to add a thread, I think that you just go under the new thread discussion and start from there. I will have to check that the restrictions are off, because for awhile, I had random people starting threads on off the wall topics. Now I must go load up my Kindle with Canterbury Tales and Alice in Wonderland, don't think that I can mix those two up. How long would you like me to put the read for?
Longhare wrote: "I thought it worked out great! I do enough deadlines in real life. I like my reading to roam free."We went the free range route for sure. What book would you be interested in climbing next? It can be done as a group read, just with an indeterminate time period. I'm up for some more climbing...

Weren't..."Yep, that didn't quite work out too well!

Coming in late to the conversation, sorry. I would love to tackle more mountains, be it Divine, Canterbury, or Illiad! However, doing them in month would not work for me, as you can tell, I tend to dawdle over books, unless I have some tough task masters to keep me going! (Hint, hint)!:) I do feel like I tend to take more from the conversations than give. I love having my own private tutors in both of you!
