2510 Sometimes I do think I should have chosen a different book cover for two of my 3 books.

2510 Over the past two years I have been and still am constantly bombarded with emails from the same two people offering me deals on promoting my books. This has got to a point of annoyance. It is difficult enough, financially, for an author to acheive success without people pushing to make money out of them all the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2510 I hope all enjoyed the articles I posted. They explain more or less, why I wrote my books.

2510 many of us write books for different reason and under different names. Here's the truth behind my books, why I wrote them and who I am:

All of this is summed up in 3 articles.

2510 I liked this line. Its the dedication that we all need to complete a manuscript:

"I couldn't get on with anything else until it was finished."

2510 Wasted Resource – Review in Northern Echo Newspaper, Saturday 25th June 2011.
When four former soldiers find that life outside the Army is harder than they thought, they decide to use their military skills to make their fortunes. They decide to steal a vast sum of money, previously recovered by the police, and now guarded by the RAF Regiment, but another team, of illegal immigrants also have their eyes on the booty and the job becomes both more complicated and dangerous.
Seaton Carew author, Preece, a former Royal Marine Commando, has produced a belter of a debut novel, bursting with action and incident. Almost too much, in fact – for ther is enough going on here with robbery, kidnapping, torture, death, a secret weapons dump, MI6 involvement, and a double cross to satisfy any adventure addict.

2510 I have recently released my latest book, "Wasted Resource". It highlights some of the issues experienced by former military service personnel and also the waste of their specialist skills after they leave the military.

There's one hell of a story inside this book and it would, undoubtedly make a great film.

Here's the synopsis:

Four former soldiers, who are brought together by fate, realise their military skills have become a wasted resource. They form as a team, utilising their specialist skills to steal a vast sum of money, previously recovered by the police and guarded by the RAF Regiment. The task is initially deemed impossible, but a stroke of luck changes this.
Two illegal immigrants on the run from their own country, enter the UK via the Channel Tunnel. They plan the same heist without knowledge of the other team, carrying out a raid on one of two heavily guarded security vans.
The money is stolen, leaving one group empty handed and pursuing the other; resulting in kidnapping, torture and death. Eventually, the captors are led to a hidden weapons cache in Northern Ireland, where the money is stashed.
Newly promoted, Detective Sergeant Dave Watson is assigned by the police as lead investigator and highlights the likelihood that the robbers have military skills and backgrounds. CCTV film footage is acquired from the channel tunnel and motorway cameras and is scrutinized, identifying the team and also two Kurds as known hardened criminals.
Meanwhile, M.I.6 express an interest in recruiting the former soldiers, wanting to setup a covert operations group and cover up their part in the robbery. However, changed plans alter this course and the team are double-crossed, leaving them to attempt to getaway!

Truthfully, I thoroughly enjoyed writing this.

2510 Proof reading my current novel manuscript is driving me crazy but I am getting there. I wouldn't like to estimate how much time I've put into writing and refining this book. Nearly there though.

2510 This is a strange IMPACT!!

The idea of this thread was for people to share the impact of their books.

Mine certainly created a huge impact.

2510 Thanks, Dorothy. Unfortunately, my publisher only publishes non fiction, so its like stating again. Many of the literary agents tell you their books are full, so as ever, its a hard nut to crack.

2510 Having had two autobiographies, published internationally I thought I would have a good chance of opening the door for fiction work. However, having completed a crime, action adventure novel, I really am struggling to get some one to take a serious look at this.

2510 Well...after 2 years I've finally completed a novel I've been working on. Its been a long haul, but I'm pleased to say I'm now finished. Now I need to find a suitable publisher and we all know how difficult that is!!

2510 I was walking around the supermarket this morning, when unexpectedly I bumped into a guy whom I hadn't seen for at least 20 years or more. He smiled at first as I said "hello", trying to place where I knew him from. Suddenly he seemed to recognise me and for some reason he seemed fearful, which was a little embarrasing.

"Bloody Hell, dad." One of my sons commented. "That guy looked terrified of something."

I turned and watched him rush out of the store, leaving his trolley behind. I pondered for a moment or two, trying to work out why he did what he did, then the penny dropped.

The last time I saw him was in the mid 80's, moments after he called an oppo of mine, cannon fodder and told him that he should have got slotted during the falklands conflict. I think I expressed dissapointment with his comments, but the cobwebs are a little heavy around that area or time now.

"What was wrong with that fella, dad" My other son asked me. "He looked like he'd just seen a ghost."

"I think he did, son." I replied. "I think he did"!!!!

2510 When my books went through the publishing stages, the publisher gave me 3 choices of book cover. I chose the one I thought suited the story the most.

What about you guys, what choices did you make and why?
