I would love to suggest another book or two and we could vote on it. I think the frankl book would be sweet, but I am also getting ready to read "A Peculiar peopl: the church as a culture in a post-christian society" by rodney clapp.
I've heard its a really good book, my buddy shane highly recommends it. Sort of a fresh look at the church in todays society. I will post it up so you can look at it. Go ahead and post which book you would like to lok at. If there is another one, feel free to share that as well. peace. chris lahr

I am open to other suggestions, but thought this would be an interesting book to start with. Viktor Frankl lived in a concentration camp during the Nazi's regime... The first half of the book describes his story, the second half of the book looks at Frankl's theory called "logotherapy." Yes, its true, this sounds horribly boring, logo what?... Its his philosophy stating that "finding meaning" is the very core of our existence. Those who had something to live for, or to look forward to in the future were able to survive the concentration suffering, while those who could not find such hope often died. I think some of Frankl's theories can translate well into our modern day world that is filled with suffering, poverty, and at time s a since of hopelessness. This book can be an effective tool especially for those who find themselves working in the inner city, or among folks who are on the margins of our society.
