Hi all, just sharing a couple of articles that have just been published. The first is a piece I wrote for the Guardian newspaper detailing 'what happened next', after the time period covered in my memoir. The second is a review of Color Blind/Precious published in the Boston Globe, by Caroline Leavitt.

@Michelle, oh my goodness, thanks for your comments! The UK book launch party for the book was just last night and I was just thinking, and loving, how this book has brought me so much close to the people who love me and who I love, especially my daughter. My daughter turned 20 just last month and we celebrated by going for a lovely lunch with my daughter, myself and Wendy (and Wendy's biological daughter). Wendy and I even went halves on my daughter's birthday present (an expensive camera). I don't think we would have come to this place of harmony and acceptance of our unusual family dynamics had I not written this book and explored the issues and history!
@Vivace, can't wait to hear your feedback on the book
Precious

Hey Michelle and Riviera! @Michelle, I've not read much YA literature but I'd like to explore. Two of my friends - both of them brilliant authors - are launching YA novels soon. One is Jennifer Solow who is coming out with Aristobrats shortly. The other is KJ Miller who has a book on the way. I'll definitely be reading their books!

Hi Friends, the US edition of my memoir, Color Blind is published today! It's available in all the usual bookstores as well as online at Amazon.com and BN.com There's also a piece about the book in the latest issue of 'Heart & Soul' magazine and more press coverage to come later this week! Best wishes, Precious

Notorious, look forward to hearing what you think of Wench. I thought it was excellent although the subject matter was extremely disturbing.
Riviera, hi! What sorts of books do you enjoy reading?

So we're nearly halfway through 2010 - what have read so far this year and which have been your favourite books?
My next book is set during slavery times and for research I've been reading novels set during that era. Standouts have been 'Someone Knows My Name' by Lawrence Hill, 'The Book of Night Women' by Marlon James and 'Wench' by Dolen Perkins-Valdez.
What have you been reading?
