1. Other than BOM points what attracted you to this book? The rave reviews? The cover? The blurb?
This is actually my first time participating in a book club discussion, so the BOM points had no influence on me this time around. I’d have to say I was attracted to this book mainly because it was so hyped back in September and October when ARCs were going around and so many book tubers were raving about it, saying home amazing it was. Then in October, when it was released, there were so many great reviews about it as well. So, because of FOMO I got myself a copy of the book, but haven’t found the time to read it until now. But besides fomo and the great reviews, the book does sound interesting and the cover is beautiful.
2. Have you read any other books by V.E. Schwab/Victoria Schwab? If so, how does this book compare? If not, what do you think of the book so far?
This is the first book I’ve read by V. E. Schwab. I think this book is pretty interesting so far. I was a tiny bit confused in the beginning, but as I’ve read the first 60 pages, I felt myself get sucked into the story and I am enjoying it.
3. What are your thoughts on Addie and the bargain she made?
I think Addie was very desperate for her freedom and to not be tied down to a man or a child so she took whatever bargain she could have gotten. The new and old gods weren’t there to answer her prayers, but the darkness did. She panicked hearing her family calling her name and getting close to finding her, so she did what she could to escape that life she did not want.
4. Obviously, selling your soul is going too far but if you were able to get a wish granted what would it be?
If I could have a wish granted, I would wish to be happy.
