36089 Nice! Love it. And the mountains in the background combined with the girl & fairy surrounded by mountains of books really captures the attention.

36089 I have no idea where people get there graphics. If you look at my blog, there is no header, just some plain text. I soooo wish I had the skill and the tools to do graphic design stuff. If I could go back to college, I would take a few classes. As a writer and publisher, it's a skill that would be so useful.

A lot of bloggers who get really into their blogging will hire a graphics designer / blog designer. And it's a good idea if you are going to make a long term hobby out of it. But also some bloggers make businesses out of their blog by providing blog tour and marketing services to authors.

36089 I like both Fiction Island and Chasms of Books.

Before you settle on a name, think about what your blog header will look like because you may want to tie the title into the header graphics.

Example: one blog called Monster Books has a cute header filled with cute monsters.

I've also seen really cute headers with owls in them. So consider themes like hearts, flowers, animals (foxes, owls, bears, elephants...), fairies, dragons, etc. And then see if you can come up with titles from the theme.

36089 My all-time favorite book is Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott. But other than that, my latest favorites are often the top five books I've read in the last six months or so.

This year, I really enjoyed The Fault in Our Stars by John Green and The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin and The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern...

...at least as far as books appropriate for teens is concerned. I've read some adult books I enjoyed too.

I really didn't think she wanted revenge. It was totally out of character for her motivations throughout the whole book, and ... (view spoiler)

But at the same time, the author left out that one bit of motivation. Maybe it was because Katniss was still reeling from all that had happened. I don't know.

P.S. I love that spoiler feature!

36089 Are you talking about the end of the last book? When the new leader said to have one more Hunger Games for revenge against the leading class?

*SPOILER ALERT*
I believe it was because Katniss knew at that moment that the new leader had to be stopped. If the leader thought she had Katniss's support, she'd never expect her to turn that arrow on her.

36089 The best writers create the most complex villains.

Take the book Wither. The villain is a doctor searching for a cure to a disease that is destroying the human race. I rooted for his cause even as I was appalled by his methods.

If only I could have liked the main character of Wither, I would have really enjoyed the book.

36089 I thought the last book was well played. War breaks everybody--both the good and the bad. It was interesting to see how each person handled their brokenness.

36089 Add a lot of books to your to-read list? Or add a whole lot of book reviews?

36089 They are almost three months old now, but I do have something better: chocolate milk made with melted chocolate chips stirred into warm vanilla almond milk. Almond milk is sweeter and smoother than real milk.

Here's a mug. Careful, it's hot.

36089 Warrior series? As in Erin Hunter? I read the first book, but my daughter has read them all. She loves them.

36089 So what do you like best about Spectre?

My favorite character was the man at the shop. He's scary and mysterious:

Turning on my heel, I collided with a freakishly tall man whose lips twitched as I scrambled to not fall on my butt.

Far too late to be sincere, he extended a hand. “Are you quite alright, miss?”

My ears burned, both from my graceless nature and from the amused twinkle in his dark eyes. The schmuck startled me on purpose. I was sure of it.

“I’m fine,” I mumbled.

“Just the man we’re looking for.” Marcella beamed. “We’re having a party for homecoming and it needs to be really special. We’re looking for something to make it extra fun. You know, something cool. Something…memorable.”

The severe lines on the clerk’s face warped into a smile. “Memorable? I know just the thing. Follow me.”

36089 Hi, Ashley! I have a fresh batch of brownies. Would you like some? Virtual chocolate is a great way to start the morning.

36089 Oh, and I'm also reading City of Glass, but I'm not sure if I'm enjoying it or not. I like parts of it but overall I'm not sucked in.

36089 How to Say Goodbye in Robot? Sounds interesting. The title alone makes me wonder what the story is about.

36089 I'm currently reading something that is a little different than the usual paranormal books out there: The Faerie Ring by Kiki Hamilton.

The story is about an orphan girl, living on the streets, trying to survive by pickpocketing and stealing, when she steals an important ring that binds the faeries and humans in a covenant.

So what makes this one paranormal story different? It's London in the year 1871. So it is a HISTORICAL FICTION Urban Fantasy.

I'm really loving it so far.

36089 My daughter is 9 years old and in 4th grade, but she won't be turning 10 until next summer. I'm planning on getting the Percy Jackson books for her soon. I really think she's old enough.

Fablehaven might be another good read for a 4th grader.
