36089 I'll check Meg Cabot off my list...

36089 I never noticed but you're totally right! We all put a little of ourselves in our characters, even the bad ones, and that shines through more often than not in our main characters.

I really want her to write in Sitia/Ixia again. That world fascinates me.

36089 Fire Study! The Study Series is one of my favorites! Well actually anything by Snyder is one of my favorites :)

36089 How about Paranormalcy? It has really good reviews. I'm going to read it after I finish Invincible: The Chronicles of Nick.

36089 Just finished Darkest Mercy and Graveminder. Both are by Melissa Marr. Great books.

Darkest Mercy was the 5th installment in the Wicked Lovely series and was a satisfactory ending to a great series.

Graveminder is her first adult novel and it was really good, I was pleasantly surprised. Very originial idea, very southern gothic. I highly enjoyed it.

36089 I just went crazy at my local library. I haven't been there in MONTHS, if at all during 2011, so the librarians were happy to see me. They even said, "We've missed you around here!" One of the old women asked me to marry her daughter because I was a handsome, intelligent young gentlemen who reads...apparently there aren't very many of us, haha!!

The books I got are:

Darkest Mercy and Graveminder by Melissa Marr
The Hourglass Door by Lisa Mangum
Invincible by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Paranormalcy by Kiersten White
Roma: The Novel of Ancient Rome by Steven Saylor

I'm so excited! Gods, I love summer!

36089 I haven't even heard of it. I need to go to the library...I haven't been in months!

36089 Congrats, Ace! That's awesome! :)

36089 Haha, possibly. I do tend to be very impulsive but then at the same time it takes a lot to get me mad. Then after a while the smallest thing can make me go off in a very calculated way. So Aries would fit nicely.

36089 I'm more of a creator whether it be writing or a project that needs doing for school, an organization, my job, etc.

When my friend is in trouble...I do everything in my power to make it better...sometimes taking on the fight myself impulsively (need to stop this, haha!).

36089 Hi, Ace! It's nice to have you as an addition to our group! I hope you enjoy Unlocked!

36089 How are those books Stephanie? Hourglass and the Golden Spiral?

36089 I really enjoyed Outside In. It took me a little longer to finish than Snyder's books normally do because I don't know when her next project is due to come out or what its going to be about. I thought Trella was a great heroine and different than typical YA. Snyder has not disappointed me yet. :)
May 21, 2011 07:36PM

36089 I just finished Outside In by Maria V. Snyder and Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro. Both were really good, completely different opposites of the spectrum but so good.

Now I'm reading The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness on my Kindle. It's really good so far, I'm impressed.

36089 So many fellow Sags! Of course, now some of us are the snake wielder, Ophiuchus, thing but I still claim Sagittarius. The two natures thing you were talking about Rita was really interesting.

And its probably because I am a Sag but I always felt like the sign was special. It's mixture between human and animal, its at the end of the year, its a double sign etc. I had a teacher in 9th grade who said he found the Sagittarius to be the most interesting of all the sings, he was a Leo. Sorry going on a tangent, haha!

I don't know who my god/goddess parent would be, any suggestions or thoughts?

**Sorry for inactivity but summer has officially started so I should definitely be more active!

36089 I'd also recommend her book Sunshine. It's very well done.

36089 Thanks for sharing, Ann. Sounds really interesting. I like the reference to WikiLeaks, great touch ;)
2011 Goals (58 new)

36089 I have another idea for a book but its a thriller and I'd have to do some research on serial killers (who are interesting in a way so that probably wouldn't be TOO bad) and I wouldn't be doing fantasy on some level for the first time ever. So...I'm really hesitant on starting or trying to write it.

As for my (extremely) incomplete story, I KNOW it will sell. I'm not saying that because I write amazingly (I don't...oh my goodness my grammar is like Satan incarnate) or anything but it fits into what is "hot" and "trending" right now. It's also kind of a new type of thing, so I'm confident it would sell if I ever actually finished it and got it edited and what not. The only thing is I think by looking at it from "I need this story written because it will sell and its marketable..." I lost the muse. If that makes any sense.

Oh and I didn't outline but I'm getting some help on that ;)

36089 I read a little over 100 books in 2010 so I have the same goal for 2011, although maybe I should cut back to focus on writing, who knows.

As for writing, I just want to finish A rough draft. That's all. Just ONE. Hopefully, I'll be able to...my work ethic is atrocious so we'll see :P
