37113 Guys, please STOP POSTING QUESTIONS NOW. Cassandra posted the start and end dates/times of this Q&A at the beginning of the thread and even if you forgot them, she just *posted* to say that the Q&A was finished. That's it. THE END. If you keep posting questions it looks like you're completely ignoring her. I'm sure you're not meaning to be rude, but you need to pay attention to what Cassandra posts, please.

37113 It's time to stop asking new questions now, guys - the session is up. Cassie has to stop some time or she's never going to get another book finished, and I know what I'd rather have her be doing!

Look, if you want to know the answers to these questions you really ought to read the books! If anyone answers you it'll just spoil it!

This is like me walking up to you in the street and asking you if you think that your outfit is unfashionable, cheap and ugly. No matter how you answer - or even if you walk away without saying a word - you're going to feel bad that someone was so unwarrantedly mean to you. I suggest if you want an answer, you rephrase this question. If you're just trolling for effect, please stop, because it not only makes you look bad, but reflects poorly on all of us.

****SPOILER****

It's because Jace saved Simon's life by letting him drink his blood. Because Jace was - basically - genetically altered by Valentine feeding Jace's mother powdered angel blood when she was pregnant, he's kind of a super-nephillim. That's why he can run faster, jump higher and do things no other shadowhunter can do. Apparently it also means his blood has strange properties, one of which is to give vampires who drink it the ability to walk in sunlight (this is also the reason that Clary can create runes instead of just copying them, like everyone else).

37113 There is just also plenty of emphasis on Jem and Tessa.

Yes! Yes! YES!

Cassandra already answered this, Stacey - she doesn't know, because the photographer keeps those details private.

37113 I knew when I set out to write a character who was Jace's ancestor that he would be endlessly, endlessly compared to Jace, and that I would wind up being told repeatedly that he was either too much like Jace or not enough like Jace. So I decided that since there was no winning that one, to put all that aside and write him as a commentary on Jace."

I have to read Clockwork Angel again! Right now!

Oh, sorry - that's not a question. Er...I think I would like to ask about Jem. In CA, Will definitely felt like the main male romantic lead, with Jem occupying more of a Simon-like, supporting role. Given than you've said the ID books will show us a true love triangle, will Jem get more screen time and more of a main character role in CP? I really hope so; he's my favourite!

Oh, what a great answer! Thank you so much. Just for the record, I admire your bravery in writing Will tremendously, and can't wait for the next book.

37113 "You've spent 1 book with Will and know almost nothing about him, plus he is a jerk in a way Jace never is."

I found it really interesting to read you say this, Cassandra. A lot of people call Jace a 'bad boy' but for me his respect and love for Clary are so clear that I can't think of him as 'bad' in any true sense. Will, however, really is my definition of a bad boy (even though I'm sure we'll grow to understand why he acts as he does in later books) and yet he's still a very strong romantic interest for Tessa. How did you feel about writing a romantic interest with that edge of true darkness? Did you feel a lot of strain walking the line between 'attractive' and 'jerk'? And was the decision to go for such a complex and at times unlikeable main character difficult, or could the story not have unfolded any other way?

Lots of questions - sorry!
