50x66 Oh, dear it's getting worse! Even though I'm trying to focus on two that need to be back at the library by Thursday, my group read, and another I've been dying for & finally got, I have read at least something in the last week in 12 books! They are:

1)P.S. I Love You by Cecelia Ahern
2)Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman
3)New Moon by Stephenie Meyer
4)Something Blue by Emily Giffin
5)The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield
6)Void Moon by Michael Connelly
7)At First Sight by Nicholas Sparks
8)Sam's Letters to Jennifer by James Patterson
9)Promise Me by Harlan Coben
10)You Have to Kiss a Lot of Frogs by L. Graff
11)Death du Jour by Kathy Reichs
12)Portrait in Death by J.D. Robb

50x66 Thanks for all the info, everyone! Just the kind of stuff I like to know before I try something new out. I think I'm going to have to check it out!!

50x66 I haven't done so in a while, but I used eBay a while back to get some books and I recall having good luck and getting a pretty good deal. I was actually able to get a lot of books by one of my favorite authors, Amanda Quick, to complete my collection (at the time!) I wasn't crazy worried about the quality of the books (which was actually really pretty good!) as much as that the person had the ones I needed to complete my collection & I got a good deal!

I tend to be more of a splurge buyer though which gets me in trouble at the actual bookstore or a book sale (and would probably make me broke & kill me if I had time for eBay these days!) Plus my OCD has made me incredibly picky about the condition of books I buy to complete a series or a collection...now-a-days, I really think I have to see it in my hands before I add it to my bookshelf, so eBay has kind of fallen by the wayside. I mean, my idea of "Excellent condition" is probably not the same as a lot of other peoples, and those pictures are never good enough!

Just my two cents...

50x66 Is it like a library where you have to send the book back? Or if you get it & love it, can you keep it?? I've heard of this through some other folks here on Goodreads, but I haven't had time to really check it out. Every year I end up donating a ton of books to the local library for their annual book sale or to the local church for their books sale (because I have made out big time at the latter in recent years & feel I must give back for the good finds I've been lucky enough to get.) However trading them for something specific I want sounds like a great idea too! Those of you who use it, please give more details of how it works...is it expensive? Is it fast? Have you ever been ripped off??
Book Goals (22 new)

50x66 Kudos to you all for great goals! Sean, I wish I were far enough along to consider publication efforts, but maybe next year!

Like Laura, I also have set a goal to read 100 books this year. I may have bitten off more than I can chew as I've only finished one of the books in my stack. However, I have a vacation coming up in a week and I plan to do some damage to my TBR pile while poolside!

I also made a goal to donate at least 5 read/not-my-style/never-going-to-get-to books for every new book I buy. We'll see how that goes, as parting with books is always very challenging for me, even if I didn't like it or know I will never get around to reading it!!

And I have on my bucket list, to read every book I own. That may take a lifetime, but it will be a joyful process!!

Good luck with all your goals, everyone!!

50x66 I find it challenging to find hood book stores up here in NH, so I admit to shopping at Borders (the closest is at least half an hour away but I really enjoy the rewards program so I make the trek...and never leave with fewer than 6 books!) I have a Barnes & Noble fairly close to my house and a Waldenbooks near work, but I usually try o stick to the bargain racks.

As another reader mentioned, I do shop online with doubleday.com as well. If you pay attention & be patient, you can get some really good deals!

I also go nuts at the annual book sale held at a church near my parents' summer home in ME. Last year I came home with two boxes & a bag full of favorite authors for only $25!!!

I was also curious to hear more from Laura from Sunnydale whose husband was a book reviewer...I would LOVE to do this but have no idea how to get involved. I remember in college we used to get some books sent to the arts editor of the paper I worked for...I was always jealousy that they got books sent to them review, but sometimes they would let me have ones t hey didn't want after they were done with them. If Laura still reads this (or if anyone else who knows how I could break into this aspect of things), please drop a line.

50x66 It is so good to see this many people that are in the midst of reading so many books at once like I always seem to end up doing! Here's what I am currently working my way through:

1) Double Cross by J. Patterson
2) Without a Map by Meredith Hall
3) Death du Jour by Kathy Reichs
4) The Final Detail by Harlan Coben
5)You Have to Kiss a Lot of Frogs by L. Graff
6) Judge & Jury by J. Patterson
7)Thriller edited by J. Patterson

I'm finding 3 & 7 very tough to get through so I've been working on them forever...but I never like to give up on a book, even if it can't keep my interest enough to be done with in two days!

50x66 I love hardcovers by my favorite authors as keepers but will pick up paperbacks that look interesting at book sales, flea markets, or used book stores. Plus I love to have the newest books by my favorite authors as soon as they come out, so that means hardcover. And I find that my OCD prefers a nice, clean, fingerprint-free, crease-free hardcover because they stay perfect more easily. Silly reason I suppose, but I can't help it!
