In the office, my books are grouped by genre, and then by author (meaning all books by a particular author are all together, and if there is a series, that is in order. And I have one section of books that I have read, and are giving away (Bookmooch). But since I have books spread all over the house, most of the rest are by bookshelf size and the books that will fit there. Then in my bedroom, I have a small bookshelf (nightstand) that I have the TBR - first stack. I'd guess I have about 200-300 books, mostly paperback.

I am currently reading 6, and that's pretty much my norm. I have books scattered throughout the house (makes it sound like I have a big house, which I do not), and I pick up whichever sounds interesting at the particular moment. Mostly I read large sections of a book at a time, and then pick up a different book when something gets slow or depending on what is going on at that moment in my life.

I tried another book swapping site, I can't remember the name of it, but I quit it before actuallying sending or receiving any books. It was not user friendly at all.
If I don't find books on bookmooch, I usually buy them in person, either new or used.

And when I start reading the book, I usually re-read the back/inner cover description, but only after I've already read at least half of the book, because I don't to know something is going to happen before it actually does!

Personally, I prefer paperback. I will buy hardcover, buy only usually if I can get them really cheap. I am really careful with my books, and when I'm finished reading (unless it's really thick) - you can't even tell that I've read it. In fact sometimes I even have to pick up the book (in my give away pile) and read a random page to make sure I've read it or not. I'm an addict...always looking for somethign else to read, even though I easily have 200+ in my to-be-read pile.

I have quite a collection of bookmarks too. I prefer the ones with the tassels on them, and now for the last few years they have beads on them. I haven't traveled much, but I plan to in the future, so what a wonderful idea to collect book marks for around the world. Thanks!

I've been getting most of my books recently from a book swap called bookmooch.com I've become totally addicted to it and find it's an excellent way to exchange used books. I think the process is better than the book swap here on goodreads, because the only cost to you is shipping the books to other members and they use a system of points.
