Are there really flash backs, and if so, are there flash forwards?

Janet, I couldn't help but put in my professional 2 cents on the issue of scientists and communication. I find that it is generally not output, or talking, that is the problem, it's listening. Anyone, scientists included, who doesn't take in available information, fails to ask questions directed at others), and pays attention only through his habitual filters, probably isn't really communicating--pontificating maybe, but not interacting.

How does the brain influence what we listen to/for as well as what we ignore? Is that selection process a habit we've cultivated over time, and if so, can that habit be modified? How? Love your work.
