50920 I’m hoping to share a wondrous journey with a few Beta readers as we discuss my 100k YA novel - "Abhuman: The Verdant Dream".

Imagine "The Hunger Games" meets "Star Wars”, and you’ll be in the right part of the galaxy. My influences were many of today’s YA hits, but include classics such as "The Chrysalids” by John Wyndham, and "The Giver” by Lois Lowry.

My goal was to write the book I wanted to read: A deeply emotional story with page turning action, set in a wonder-filled, futuristic universe, with a balance between the romantic and the adventurous.

With your help, I’m hoping to turn this into the next YA Best Seller!

BETA READING DETAILS:

For any Beta Reader committed to providing serious feedback, I will gladly send a paperback copy of the manuscript—(I had a special Beta Reader copy of the book made in lieu of printing out Letter sized copies).

You can markup your copy up to your heart’s content! I’m also willing to send you the novel in ANY electronic form you like. Many prefer that, and you can mark things up electronically, of course.

I’m hoping to get feedback within the next 8 weeks - by June 5’th 2017. That will give me a few weeks to incorporate any changes before I head off to Iceland for a vacation / research trip.

I will have an ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS page in the book where I will list any Beta Readers (unless you don’t want to be listed) I will also add your website / blog beside your name in the book, if you like.

When the final book is published, I will send a signed copy to all Beta Readers.

BOOK INFORMATION:

TITLE: Abhuman: The Verdant Dream
WORDCOUNT: 100,000
GENRE: YA (Science Fiction & Romance)
TAGLINE: How far would you be willing to go to save your entire species?
BACK COVER COPY:

Secretly engineered with random mutant powers, the Abhuman were designed to fight a war they didn’t even know was raging around them.
In a far flung corner of the Universe, the Covenant conquer planet after planet, then erase the population’s memories of their previous lives, turning them into unknowing slaves, docile and happy.

When sixteen-year-old Cheska Bellamy accidentally slows time, she realizes that she’s an Abhuman—a death sentence in Covenant society. With her newfound powers also comes a dream-like connection to a boy named Taro, whom she’s never met, from a planet she’s never been to.

Forced to flee her starship when her powers are discovered, Cheska crash-lands on the planet below where she stumbles onto the ruins of a decimated alien civilization. It turns out that Krijese was not a sterile planet before her people started terraforming—their machines destroyed most of the Indigen’s civilization, though a few them remain, tucked into the depths of the planet, quietly awaiting their fate.

Cheska is guided to an underground base called Sanctuary, where the resistance plot to rescue humanity from their slave-masters. There she finds other Abhumans like herself, each with unique powers. The biggest shock is that she is part of an ancient prophecy, one that says she is destined to marry Taro—their children are supposed to save humanity. She wants to help—the problem is, she doesn’t love Taro. She doesn’t even know what love feels like … until she meets Dane.

With help from the enigmatic Indigens, she learns to tap into the power of the Verdant Dream to defeat the Covenant—but it’s not enough.

On the precipice of her people’s destruction, Cheska is forced to choose between two unthinkable outcomes. She must find the strength to do what nobody else can, and make a choice that nobody else will.
