The following series of poems chronicles pivotal moments of life in my body and heart as a woman in my twenties. Themes in these poems revolve around nature, gender, sex, fertility, loss, aging, trauma, and power.
In these poems and my other writing, I often infuse natural themes. However, I don’t enjoy reading comparisons of women to gentleness in nature and you will see quite the opposite in my poems. I also am fascinated by the role of men in my generation’s relationship to fertility. As women’s control of their bodies is hotly debated, I want to consider the role men play in understanding these issues for themselves.
I aim to write poetry that is both approachable and layered with meaning. My poetry often has some grounding or signpost connecting it to the modern world. My audience is primarily young people who may not connect to traditional forms of poetry and anyone with an interest in issues of sex and gender.

I have not submitted to a competition before so if there is a conflict of interest here, please let me know.
