I took on a spooky read, although if I had seen the least dusty option I would have tried to do both. I just finished "Frankenstein" for my halloween horror, and added on "The Running man" which was not too dusty, but not the least dusty.

I am going to attempt to get to Dracula, some Edgar Allen Poe stories, and maybe Frankenstein. I think at last one of those will count. ;) I'll look it up later. My library system is doing a lot of Edgar Allen Poe events this month, so I am excited to dig out my collected works.

This sounds awesome. I may just have to do this. Thank you for sharing.

I'm going to be revisiting an author by reading "Mansfield Park" and I'll be reading the next in a series with "The Grand Tour", though I may need to reread "Sorcery and Cecilia or the Enchanted Chocolate pot".

I've been reading some steampunk recently, and I've really enjoyed "The Parasol Protectorate" series. I love how the author developed the series. Unfortuantely I've been letting her latest book get dusty.
Another suggestion- maybe we should have a reread challenge? I know I have a lot of books I've been meaning to reread. I'm not sure how you would want to handle this, but it may be an idea for a busy month.

I added a ton of extra stitches when I started knitting. I haven't been doing a lot of knitting recently, now that the semester is over I'm trying to give my wrists a break so my tunnel carpal can heal. Does anyone spin yarn? The Tour de Fleece just started. My goal is to spin a little every day for it so I can finally really learn how to do it.

Yes, it is called "Pip". It is in season four, and it is available to watch free online at southparkstudios.com. It is the only film adaptation of GE that I've seen, and at first I didn't realize that's what it was, but it is a lot of fun.

Cool, sounds like we have a plan then. :)

How about July maybe? I have a lot to finish this month, and since the book starts at Christmas we could have a little Christmas in July. :)

I love comics, both newspaper comics, graphic novels, and manga.
To answer the question about the difference between comics and graphic novels-there isn't any. Graphic novels are a subset of comics. The word comic refers to the format of mixing pictures and words deliberately to create meaning and an aesthetic experience. Graphic novels are usually seen to be either a complete story in one book, such as Watchmen, though some people include trades. Trades are a collection of issues of a comic series into a book, or many volumes of books. This is more along the lines of a book series, like Harry Potter. Good examples of Trades are Sandman, Fables, and many DC and Marvel series become trades. Trades are also often labeled as graphic novels. Issues of comics are those little thin booklets that contain a chapter of a series. Newspaper comics are also often collected into books, and it seems like no one quite knows how to label these, as even when they are collected into book form they don't often have an overarching plot.
Sorry to be so verbose, I'm a bit of a comics scholar.

I finally finished "Great Expectations". It took a long time, and I often chose other books over it, but it is done. Now to watch the South Park parody episode of it. :)

I'm up for Little Women, it's been dusty for a decade now. When do you want to start?

I think it might be nice to do a sequel or next book in a series challenge. I don't know about you all, but I know there are a ton of series I read the first book or two of, but haven't gotten to the others yet.

This reminds me that I still have to finish Great Expectations. It is taking forever to get through.

Sorry I've been missing in action so far this month everyone. I requested A secret Garden and Killing Mr. Griffin from the library, and i found another book I started, didn't finish and have been meaning to get back to. I am going to start Too big to miss, and the other two when I get them from the library. While I would love to work on some of the others like Jane Eyre, I don't think I will have the mental power after finals. I am ready for a little bit of light fluffy reading.

Ok, I have made a list of some of the books I really need to get around to reading and finishing. Here it is:
Little Women
Memoirs of a Geisha
Jane Eyre
Tom Sawyer
The Secret Garden
Where the Red Fern Grows
The Lovely Bones
Fast Food Nation
The Host
Inkheart
Marked (House of Night)
Ransom my Heart
Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister
Pet Cementary
Killing Mr. Griffin
Daughters of Eve
Sabriel
Any help narrowing this down would be appreciated. I would like to get at least one done, although it may have to wait until after graduation, which will give me a good week. :)

I have way too many books that fit into this category. I will have to make up a list and see how many i can read. I may need some help deciding though. ;)

I have several of those, and this would be a great theme to bring up every so often. I might do Jane Eyre or Dracula for this one.

Alana, I'm currently reading Sense and Sensibility. I started it in the fall semester, but I got sidetracked by writing a paper on Northanger Abbey. I'd be happy to chat about it with you. I'm also hoping to finish reading Austen's novels this year, and after this I have Persuasion and Mansfield Park.

I managed to finish the challenge, reading 20 out of 20 books for this challenge. I have managed to finish all of my reading goals for the year, as well as keep up with all my schoolwork, so I am happy with that. I didn't manage to read all the ones I had planned to read, and still have three that I hope to finish soon, but overall I've done okay enough.
Next year I will probably do this challenge again, but I may not aim for so many books, especially since I will be in my final year of undergrad, and my end up starting the teaching credential program, or job hunting. I will probably try to do one dusty book a month.
