I hate reading challenges and goals. I work full time, and I read whenever I can, but I have a lot to do on my two days off a week. I manage to get a lot read, but I can't make myself read more than I do. So no goal or challenge for me. Maybe if I had a maid I could do it.
I think many "classics" are overrated. I disliked ANNA KARENENA, CRIME AND PUNISHMENT, any of the Russian translations that I've read. I hated LOVE IN THE TIME OF CHOLERA. I don't enjoy Hemingway.
I have also hated many books that everyone else says they like. For example, I thought THE ROAD was terribly depressing.
I don't read romances, YA books, porn, or books with goofy-looking covers. I dislike books that I think are below my reading level.
I sound like a snob. Really I'm not.

Oh, my, I was supposed to stop at 10, wasn't I?
I've read many of the books that others list as favorites. If I haven't listed them, obviously I don't agree that they're exceptional. Most I just thought were OK
