How did the google meet-up go- I tried logging on at 5:30 eastern by hitting the link and I didn't see anything. I saw your twitter feed and tried again at 9:30 eastern but still didn't see anything.
I didn't finish it in time, but so far fantastic book.

I just got a copy of "red mars" the first book in the mars trilogy. A realistic sci-fi series on the colonization of Mars.

Libraries are also excellent sources. If you haven't been to a public library recently I strongly recommend checking one out. My real problem is the room all the books I own take up.

I haven't read the book yet, but I believe there is a TED.com talk from the author that I watched and put on my blog a few months ago. If I remember correctly he tells a story about how Aluminum used to be very rare and now it is used as a "disposable" material.
I justed bought the audible.com version so once I had finished it I'll come back.
However, when successful this space elevator concept will allow us more "abundance" in many forms. There are numerous resources available on the Moon and in astertoids and cheap Earth to Orbit (ETO) transportation both ways is integral to any plan to allow us to all benefit from this new abundance.
Great first book idea for the group.

I just started using audible.com. It is a great way to absord a book. I use it while driving instead of listening to the radio. Also, nook ebooks allow you to "lend" ebooks for two weeks. I have a first generation Nook (black and white) which is readable in sunlight, however the screen doesn't show graphs or images well.
