We're going to start the book club up again and we'd love for you to join us. We'll be back on October and tear about the 2005 LiftPort book by Fawcett, Nugent, and Laine.
In case we don't get over here to update, I do try to make sure the webpage is updated.

The discussion is always live on googleplus. The Facebook is just an invite to your friends.

Mark Alpert: Author of The Final Theory and The Omega Theory writes: I checked out your book club, it's very cool. (I'm pretty sure I edited John Lewis, author of Mining the Sky, for a story in Scientific American about 12 years ago.) My next book, titled Extinction, comes out in February. It's a science thriller that focuses on brain-machine interfaces -- thought-controlled prostheses, retinal implants, cyborg insects, that sort of thing. Michelle: He's offered to come talk to us so we'll pencil that on the long term suggestion list and see how that relates to our group. Thanks!

poor connectivity. both AmyBeth and I have dropped off the call.

This is a 2 part series. 5/28 people can chat about their impressions. Part Two will be more interactive with Michael Laine and Homer Hickam to be scheduled soon.

LiftPort does have a Book Club Book store.
http://bit.ly/LiftPortAmznBooks to help you find the hard copy or kindle. Looking for more suggestions to add.

The times referred to are for US Pacific time.
?: I'm not sure if the goodreads accounts for what time zone you are in and adjusts for it. We're so used to it that from the settings and having it done for you, but I don't think goodreads does that. Please keep it in mind. Sorry for technical difficulties while we work out the system. Thanks for participating!

There are lots of sources to buy books.
http://Amazon.com,
http://www.alibris.com and lots of textbook sites. Where do you like to buy books?

Alexandra from
http://stars-space.com asks about suggestions for fiction books. She was suggested to check Hugo awards winners, old Heinlein: Moon is a Harsh Mistress, Strangers in a Strange Land, Starship Troopers, and Time Enough for Love. Dune series by Frank Herbert and family. Also Jack Vance, Joe Haldeman, Vonda McIntyre, Andre Norton, Isaac Asimov, Arthur C Clarke, Alan E Nourse. (thanks for those suggestions Michael and Charles) What else would you suggest?

From Michael (in Rules) We are happy to take “Book Suggestions” (posted in this thread) about what books to read. Collectively, you know more about ‘stuff’ than we possibly can. So, please, give us ideas about what we should be reading – stuff that is relevant to building the biggest project in human history. The final book choices will come down to what Micheal thinks we need “now”. He's the President of LiftPort Group, and he (usually) know what skills/insights we're missing… So we want your suggestions, but he’ll be the one to choose the books. He’ll post the “Schedule of Books” about 2-4 weeks ahead, so that everyone (me included) has time to order them. He will start the club with four books he's already selected. By the time we are done with those, you folks will have provided additional options.

Cheers. I'm Michelle. I help out around. More likely to say guess what I did, instead of 'somebody should' and wait for it to happen. Reader, (non fiction only, lite scifi), writer, public speaker, activist. Enjoy it even more when paid. I read engineering, physics, microbiology, cosmology, nanotech. See ya!

Say hi! We'd love to meet you, so introduce yourself.
