770270 I’ve been trying to remember our time together
Backtrack our evacuation route
That New Year’s we danced
Shook and swayed the stars
From their loft to our feet
A pattern aligned with stellar breadcrumbs
Winter’s breath kissed us
Lips ice wet against our cheeks
Chill-shocked I walked you home through the forest
The spring in our step returned in March
Dubstepping into your bed
Rainy night liquid prayers roaring
Our bleating resounding off the walls
Waterproof paper people banishing the outsiders
Summer doldrums left us wanting for breath
A tango cloaked in humidity’s hug
Tight enough we have to time our gasps
To the terminal clock
A fall lost in the blanket of leaves
Covered us in the decay of unknown dreams
A tarantella of anger blooms with the loss of flora
A kudzu of fights and flights
Snakeskin flakes off the issues
Pigs running toward snowmen of our fears
We skate, slip, and slide into others’ arms
Trying to bury our memory
It’s time to uncover ourselves
So, we can hop the train back to each other

770270 Below is a poem I wrote for these times. A romantic poem with no title other than the number I've assigned to it. I've other poems that were not specifically written for these times but somehow still feel apt. If interested, you can read them on my website at https://tentacularity.wordpress.com/w...

100. Soul of my soul, heart of my heart
My ears hunger for your voice
My lips want for the taste of yours
Their fleshy wonder wandering further afield
Into bits of the realm we dare not enter again
Further south where night’s bushes
Burn brightly in the rain
The drops landing on our tongue
As we dance around the spot
A sacrifice for being together
Forever apart
Can you hear me in your isolation?
Is it better this way?
That we separate ourselves
Into our component parts
So as not to be caught walking together
During cloudbursts of existential blankness
A psychedelic thunder rattling our innards
A quarantine of emotional lightning ripping through us
Loneliness a cure for the codependent virus
The germ of our infection
