78394 A little surprised that as a former English major I have never read any Dickens! I found this book to be super easy, especially because I'm so familiar with the story from adaptations. I think it was a good way to be introduced to his style of writing and I've added a few of his works to my TBR pile.

Scrooge's transformation was a bit quick but since its a heartwarming Christmas story I kind of let it slide...glad I finally read it and now can say that I haven't just seen the movie.

78394 I wrote my college admission essay about Nancy Drew. I feel such a personal connection to this character even though we're generations apart. I think she's a person I wish I could be, I still think she's so cool!
I also felt such an attachment to the characters in Atonement by Ian McEwan. Their story was emotionally exhausting.

78394 I am reading The Weird Sisters by Eleanor Brown which I really like so far....it has a really unique narrative and is full of Shakespeare quotes but not in a pretentious academia way. Also reading a memoir about life in the CIA and The Stranger Beside Me, about Ted Bundy. A little too heavy, been watching too much Criminal Minds! I like to keep a few books on rotation.

78394 Hi! I'm Julie from New York. I graduated college in May with a degree in English, so I feel right at home here! Currently "taking a year off" before I start law school in the fall.
I love to read almost anything, I love the classics and had the opportunity to read a lot of them in college but feel like I skipped over QUITE a few! I also love mystery, true crime, and some contemporary literary fiction. My secret weakness is YA, I love John Green and Sarah Desse.

My all-time favorite book is (cliche alert!) The Great Gatsby. I will always love it.

I'm currently reading The Weird Sisters by Eleanor Brown.
